Have any of you done liquid N2 to get rid of skin lesions or to help scarring? Lesions include sebaceous hyperplasia, keloids, hypertrophic scars, nodular acne, etc etc?

I have done some research on liquid n2 and saw that scarring is a possiable side effect however i would like to learn more from personal experience on people from this board.

I have had 20+ L N2 procedues done, but never on the face for warts and it never left a scar. My mom had a few warts removed on her face using N2 and it left no scars.

What do you think about doing it within 2 months after stop taking accutane?

hi imdue

can you elaborate please? I know it does leave a pinkish hue for a long time on my mom's face but it is gone. Can you tell me what was on your face, how long it was there, where the location was on your face, healing time and the results?

Thank

I was told by two derms that it would probably leave a white spot. Meaning it would remove the pigment just like CO2 and Erbrium laser. I suppose your mothers's wasn't done too deep, lucky. biggrin.gif

Hi

not sure if this helps...i used liquid nitrogen to get rid of brown pigmentation on my face. A few mths after i did the first round, the pigmentation returned, but after the second time, it was mostly gone, except for a very small patch and it was very light and not too noticeable. no scarring definitely.

cheers

Back around 1988, a dermatologist used liquid nitrogen to raise a boxcar scar on my right cheek. The area scabbed for several days. When the scab fell off, the scar was shallower and pink. The pinkness eventually faded.

Yes. In 1985, I had two warts removed from my arm with this method. I still have the scars today.

Dry ice is not liquid nitrogen. Although I dont know the chemical component of dry ice, L N2 on the other hand will not remain a solid at room tempreatures and will almost instantenously vaporize upon leaving the container.

Scorpian

How noticable is your scar? also is it atrophic or hypertrophic? what color is it? Thanks.

The doc must have burned deep into your skin for it to scar.

Hey sorry if I was wrong about liquid nitrogen being dry ice. The derm told me that's what it was but I was a kid, so he was probably just trying to explain it to me in his own twisted way.
He just sprayed it onto my warts, told me that it would leave a little scar. The scars are not as noticeable as they use to be. They are both the size of a dime, and amount to clusters of raised, white shiny scars (some of the shininess and the thickness of the scars have reduced over the years). When I was young, I had kids in school ask me how I got those. They never really bothered me though, because they are not on my face! I have other scars from cat scratches on my arms that are more noticeable than those liquid nitrogen scars now anyway. :-)

Dry ice is just carbon dioxide--there's lots of carbon dioxide in the air we breathe, so it's not toxic or anything. (Hah! okay, I guess there are lots of toxic things in the air we breathe, too, but carbon dioxide is pretty harmless.)

Carbon dioxide won't remain a solid at room temperature either, but like regular ice, it takes it a while to "melt."

Hi Proxy

i had 2 brown spots on my cheek, quite near the eyes. the spot turned black after the spray and the scab took abt one wk to fall off.
the awful part abt this treatment was that one week...have to brave the stares of others 'cos the scab is really ugly looking.

My derm did this to me a while ago to see if it would get rid of my undiagnosed bumps. It didn't scab me, I didn't even have irritation. I was on retin-a at the time and was able to apply it that very night.

It didn't do anything. It didn't work for me at all sad.gif

Maybe he wasn't aggressive enough because he didn't want to risk scarring me more :-k

Hey emmanual

How long did he hold the L N2? Was it spray or cotton swab? Did it get red afterwards and swell up? Can you give more details please?

Usually the concentric ice circles is 1.3 times the depth and it takes 2 20-30 second freezes to dystroy the cells. Well i would rather go 3-4 10 second freezes to minimizeeliminate scarring but that would successfully dystroy the bumps. BTW where on your face are the bumps that were treated and when was this treatment done? thank you.

I don't know how long he held it. Not too long. It was a spray in a can that looked like a welding instrument. I think it got a little red.

My bumps were on my chin and nose....they're still there. It didn't work.

The treatment was done a year or two ago.
