I was recently on Retin A .1 For 7 Weeks with minimal effects, my dermatologist is recommending Tazorac now, It is in the retionoid family. Why would she prescribe another type of retionoid cream if the first one didn't work, Doesn't make sense. You guys think it would be effective?

wow, yep, been there, done that.

ok so in clinical studies retin-a after 12 weeks will get rid of like 55% of comedomes, Tazarac is a little more powerful so it may clear up say 63% and you gain one point if you add Minocycline to like 64% (if you want to exact % do a pub med search). Tazarac should be less irritating and also has some anti-inflamitory action that retin-a doesn't. It will be stronger but only a little, the only thing I will say is that 7 weeks may not be enough time to get a major effect. With a more powerful retinod and the progress into your 8-12 week, I would think you will be seeing improvement if the retin-a effect is not 100% yet.

If retin-a didn't work im guessing your dirm will try taza for 3 months and then taza plus Minocycline for 3 months.

Maybe I should ask to try clendamycin or doxacylin.
