I'm at the 4 (or maybe 5) week point with OCM, and I have mixed feelings about it so far. I did experience an initial purge that caused me to break out pretty badly about 10 days ago, but since then my skin has been relatively cooperative. I had been using extra virgin olive oil & castor oil at night, but for the past few days I've been mixing half olive and half jojoba oil which I think is a little less heavy on my skin.

I also think that I do the OCM a bit differently then some people. I actually cleanse my face with just pure olive oil or jojoba oil in the morning (making sure to remove it completely) then use the castor oil combination at night. As an artist, I've occasionally used olive oil to clean paint off of brushes for years, so using it to fight oil on my skin makes perfect sense to me. On humid days like today, I've been cutting down to washing with oil just once a day (at night), and just splashing my face with water in the morning and so far it seems to be working well. I'm also using Thayer's Lavender Witch Hazel on my face after washing it in the morning and at night (and sometimes after coming in from being outside, if I remember).

As for my pores, I think they initially got more clogged, and then less clogged as I proceded with the OCM. This is probably explained by the oil from my over-producing pores combining with the oil from the OCM to create an extra oily environment (although my face didn't feel/look oilier, if anything it felt less). I'm pretty happy with the direction that I hope my skin is moving in, although I'm still waiting from some red marks from my initial outbreak to fade before I make any solid conclusions.

My goal for using the OCM is to balance out the oil production in my face. I have been consistently using harsh oil stripping products on my face for the past 10 years, and now in my late 20's I feel like this is a cycle that I'll never break unless I actually do something about it. It's definitely scary, because there's a possibility it could make things worse, and no one wants to have acne. It's a soul crushing condition that a lot of us (myself included) have been wrestling with for years. But using the OCM makes me feel good about my skin, and it makes my skin feel fresh and happy. Although it's a little rocky right now, I can't turn away from it yet. Everyone always says to give any acne routine 3 months to start seeing real results, so that's what I hopefully will be able to do.

I have stopped using all moisturizers, cleaners, and harsh products on my face. I'm going to stick with it and hopefully my skin will thank me for it soon. I realize this may not be helpful for some people, but I just wanted to share my personal experiences.

Im about 3 weeks in to it and 2 bumps that have been under my skin for YEARS finally came to the surface and broke out, but the PIH is not bad at all because BP isn't bleaching the marks any more.

I would give OCM quite a lot of time if you know you have crud under your skin, because in my experiences so far, it brings everything to the surface.

I use around 60% castor, 30% jojoba and around 10% tea tree oil. I feel like the tea tree oil definitely helped quell most of the smaller parts of the initial breakout. I like the glow it's giving to my skin and I can't really complain if im breaking out in places that would eventually break out anyway.

Also, I use ACV toner and Fruit of the Earth aloe vera with emu oil, jojoba oil, tea tree oil, and castor oil mixed in. gonna switch that around to something else soon so the mix isn't so oily.

Please be careful trying the OCM method.I didn't have ANY acne when I started trying this method.I It was winter time and I thought it'll help my skin stay healthy.I did everything right(organic oils, steaming, clean towels...) .A month after, I started breaking out,at first I thought maybe my skin needs some time to get used to the OCM ...to make the long story short ever since I have been dealing bad acne. It has been a year since I haven't had at least 3 active acne and 20 red spots from previous acne on my face! today I have 5 acne and a lot of red spots! I never had acne in my life(I'm 35 years old). Everyone around me is also surprised!..."don't try to fix it when it isn't broken".If you see the FIRST sign of breaking out ,stop!!

For OCM it's very important to include Tea Tree Oil to help with acne issues. No matter what blend of other oils you choose to cleanse with, add a bit of Tea Tree Oil as it kills the bacteria on your face. I know that all of us here are acne-prone to some degree, so the Tea Tree Oil really helps in that regard.
