Hey, this is my first time posting on here. I usually just read, but I'm posting now because I need advice. I'm very stressed out because of acne. I'm 17 going on 18 (birthday is tomorrow) and I've suffered from moderate acne since i was 12.

The acne I get is mostly around my chin and above the upper lip and then a little on my jawline and neck (where my facial hair grows). Sometimes I get big breakouts, sometimes ill just have a small zit here or there, but it seems like I'm almost NEVER clear, which makes me depressed a lot of the time. I used to try to force them to pop a lot when I was younger so I had a lot of scarring.

Anyways a few months ago I had my wisdom teeth removed surgically. They gave me vicodin for the pain and amoxicillin to prevent infection. After taking that for the week that I had it I noticed my skin was pretty clear, although I wasn't quite sure why. After running out of the pills and breaking out again I thought it might have been the amoxicillin that had cleared it. Well, recently my brother got a tooth pulled and they gave him amoxicillin. A week later I was in his room and noticed he had never taken any of it. So I've been stealing a pill here and there and taking them, and my skin has cleared right up within a week. But I ran out and now I got a big pimple under the skin just below my lip and to the left. It hurts a lot, especially when I talk because its right by my mouth. And its really inflamed and noticeable.

It's made me really depressed and has caused me to miss school because I dont want people to see it. Which really sucks because Ive been getting all A's and now im going to be behind. I didnt go today and I'm really thinking about not going tomorrow. I really want to try Dan's regimen but my parents are gone for the week and I have no way of ordering it online or anything.

and idk, I just needed to vent.

r u seriously saying one pimple under ur lip is causing u to miiss school??? what kind of bs is that. you know there is such thing as coverup and ive covered huge blemishes that i got from picking at zits with a good concelar. Loreals true match is amazing and without it idk what i would do lol..

Jaybird you don't have to assault him. I really get frustrated when people on this site call out other people for trying to cure their acne that is less severe than their own.

Anyways, Halogen, avoid touching it at all. You can apply some neosporin and spot treat with BP. Good luck man, I know how bad it is to have some big pimple that makes you skip. Good luck, and keep venting. It helps.

I'm a guy. I dont use coverup? Not to mention I dont know anything about it.

HI!! this is also my first time posting.. i just want to say that i have the same case as you. whenever i eat amoxicillin, my face clears up. i have no idea why but i just want to know if there are any disadvantages in eating too much of amoxicillin and how many pills of amoxicillin do you eat a day? thanks =)

if your brother has any vicodin left... u can take me a pill here and there

also since amoxicilin is an antibiotic, you can ask a derm to perscribe u keflex, its an antibiotic they perscrib alot for acne, and its REALLY cheap or free if u have insurance
