Yes, yes, we all know that picking and popping your zits is bad, bad, bad, but...there's just something so satisfying about it, isn't there?

This is a thread for those people that don't care about the scars or exacerbating the acne problem. Frankly, I'd rather pop a zit and deal with a flat, easy to cover red mark for a few weeks than let a nasty pimple sit on face and ruin my skin's texture.

I only pop zits that have a white head, though.
I rarely go for one that isn't obviously "ready to go."

Anyway, maybe I'm a big freak, but I have fun popping my zits. If I can't at least do that, then what good is my acne, anyway?

It's especially satisfying when you get one of those that splats on the mirror.

Due to Yaz totally screwing up my face for a little while there, I was getting quite a few of those big, exploding zits.

This is totally gross, but I'm going to tell you about it anyway:
About a week ago, I popped a HUGE zit in my T-zone, and holy crap, man, there was like a 3 inch line of pimple goo on my mirror. Gross, right? However, I couldn't help thinking that it was pretty much the coolest thing I'd ever seen. I mean, seriously, that thing had like ten of those little hard pimple things in the goo.

I know, TMI, I know.

A couple of days ago, I popped what was definitely the last of the big Yaz pimples and the splatter actually went past the mirror and hit the wall next to it. It almost looked like someone had been shot or something.

Lol, yeah...it is pretty amusing when one squirts on your mirror.

I have managed to stop popping in the 7th grade tho lol.gif

But I still have the red marks and indents to show for it..and im a high school senior now!

Oh, that sucks!

Mine don't last that long. If I pop a zit, I'll have a red mark for a few weeks and then it's gone. Sometimes, if I don't pop one, I'll end up with a scar that lasts longer. saywhat.gif Weird, huh? Everyone is so different.

well pus is white blood cells and bacteria mostly, and bacteria interferes with the healing of the skin. so your situation does makes sense.

However with my type of acne, it creates more harm if I pop them.

I used to be freakin addicted to popping acne up until last year or so. And, great news, as of today i have no whiteheads to pick at! Ha! But the red marks suck. And whenever i see someone picking in public or whatever i almost loose it >.< Its kinda disguisting.

Lol the other week i had one pop on me, all by itself. It wasn't really a whitehead, just a bump full of blood. I made a sad face or whatever as i was leaving school, and it just totally blew up on meh. Really disguisting. It felt like someone threw a rock at me. And there was blood everywhere >.<

ahhaa, I'm the same way. Depends on the location though. It's wierd, like on my beard line, all the pimples I pop usually go away scars and all after a couple of weeks. I leave it alone and another pimple pops up near the area or the same pimple comes back a week or so later.

haha great post, definitely been there. I wonder what Freud would say about this acne gratification, maybe he missed a development stage!

Usually about once a week I get one or two papules around my chin area and I have been known to go absolutely mental on them. I realise your not supposed to do this but when I actually get the pus out (after damaging all the skin around the spot) I am immensely satisfied with the vindication I receive. Whiteheads just have to go.

haha. I was just thinking about this the other day. What happens when my acne goes away? I won't be able to enjoy popping my pimples. I actually scared myself for a moment and then I convinced myself that this was one pleasure I could live without. lol.

When I pop whiteheads I'm like eusa_dance.gif it's so satisfying
But lately I've been getting shoulder acne. They aren't whiteheads, more like a bump. I pinch them, and a thick stream of brown, dirty pus comes out. I'm not like eusa_dance.gif I'm more of redface.gif

All I can say is, when I free up a pustule, an immediate wave of calm comes over me...almost as if I just took a Xanax.

Can someone please explain what happens when you let a perfectly ripe zit stay on your face untouched? Does it turn into a protruding whitehead, then dries up and falls off? Or will it always pop? Or will the body absorb the junk in the pimple?

I used to always pop the ones that were ready to go, and most of the time I had minimal redmarks or scarring. It was only when I really picked and squeezed at unripe zits that my face would look terrible. But for those zits that just needed a little squeeze to spray out the junk (sorry for the imagery), nothing really bad happened and the healing process was sped up? Anyone with a similar experience?

Me too.

I feel that expelling the crap that is causing the inflamation, and immedietly taking anti inflammotories afterwards actually minimisise / prevents scarring.

It can also be very satisfying to watch: www.pimpletube.com has a lot of videos. I guess more people are into this kind of stuff!

I try and avoid popping pimples if I can. Although I do make an educated guess and know that if I see a small whitehead before I go to bed for example, if it can be removed cleanly and treated correctly, it's vanished by morning. Before, I just used to go crazy on anything and everything which always ended badly. I've been lucky though and have no significant scars.

I'll agree that there's a degree of satisfaction sometimes, even if it is gross. It became kind of compulsive for many years but I've learned to think twice now.
