Hi all, in some of my old posts i mentioned a little bit of this but never made a thread about it.

I got scarred after elextrolysis on my cheeks to remove hairs that were growing further and further up above my beard line.

Well the electrolysis was very very hurtfull. It made me break out and inflamed my cheeks and caused lots of dark red and brown spots and the whiteheads/Zits i got from the breakout left little dark dot-marks behind.

It even darkedned a section of my skin where most of the hairs were pulled.

Whats worse is I think it made my unwanted hair growth worse becasue after electrolysis, i had newer and more unwanted hairs growing on areas of my cheeks which were hairless prior to Electrolysis.

*What I would like to know is has ANYONE here heard of Eelctrolysis causing more unwanted hair growth in previously hairless areas.

*Also has ANYONE here been scarred by electrolysis and if so what if any remedy did you'll do to make the scars dissappear.

Please help me.I am very miserable and after 2 IPL hair removal treatments nothing has changed and so I have just lost it mentally.I WISH i could go back to the time before the electrolysis.
I agonise everyday about getting the electrolysis and can not belive what has happened to me.

Prior to Electrolysis and to a lesser extent Micro-Demabrasion, my skin was 1000 times better and I can't come to terms with the way i look now.
These skin treatments have just killed me on the inside. cry.gif cry.gif

You shouldn't have put any water to the area for 24 hours after the treatment, it may cause scars brown spots. Whiteheads will go away (in a week) don't worry for them.

Getting rid of the hair requires more or less 7-8 sessions depending on its type/thickness...

You should clean the area with alcohol and put talc puder (baby puder) on it to prevent the area from moisture/wetness...etc.

When did you go to electrolysis?

I went for the electrolysis first week of december. It was 2 sessions of 1 hour each.
Each session the electrolysis woman pulled out about 30 odd hairs maybee a bit less.

She rubbed hydrogen peroxide on the treated areas then put a tissue over it and then a depressed the tissue back and forth with a roller like thingy to work the HP in.

Did you have Electrolysis done and if soo did you get newer hair growth in previously hair free areas after going though the electrolysis?

Yes, I had electrolysis done, but didn't notice newer hair growth.
I think this is not very common as the needle only effects the root of 1 hair at once.

The woman told me not to put water or anything except alcohol and puder to avoid brown spots.

The area gets reddish and becomes swollen (? grows ) then becomes normal, but this takes at least 1 week. Yesterday I had my 2nd session that lasted about 20min. The 1st sessions was about 40min. (which I had 2 or 3 weeks ago). I try to put up with the pain, its nothing when compared to my laser treatment sessions for my keloids ](*,)

I really appreciate your replies. its nice to talk to someone who has had the same thing done.
My electrolygist never mentioned anything about not putting water on treated areas.

My electrolysist said her Electrolysis machine used types of current pulses or something to that effect.

Could you ask your Electrologist about her machine and whats the detalis about the 2 different pulses or amps or something that newer machines have.

Its been awhile so i forgot.

8-[ Could you ask your Electrologist also about waht to look for when seeking an electrologist and waht amchine is safest/best. 8-[

I have allwyas found that shaving fine hairs make them grow thicker/longer and darker.

Whats your oppinion on this often stated myth or fact?

Again thanks for your help.

I'll ask my electrolysist what type of machine they are using next time I go there.

As far as I know things like shaving or hair remover creams make hair thicker/stronger.

But waxing or using tweezers don't effect much.
For example I used to shave my legs and underarms but now (for about a year) I've been using 'Philips Satin Ice Epilator' regularly and I realized that made the hair in my legs thinner and softer. Waxing or using a method that removes the hair from the root, sometimes killes some of the follicles.

Do not ever use methods like shaving or hair remover cream in you face, when you are shaving, this will also shave little hair that you don't need to shave and make them thicker, stronger.

I used to have laser hair remover sessions (6 or 7 sessions). But It didn't really work. At first it seemed like working but now I see little difference. Then the woman I'm having laser sessions suggested me to have electrolysis as my hair is not so dark.

In laser epilation, it's effective when you have light coloured skin and dark coloured hair. My skin is light, my hair is not so dark-nearly brown- (I am blonde), so it didn't work actually.

As far as I know, electrolysis can be used to remove hairs on head. But go to a proffessional because head area is very important. I think it will give lots of pain. If I were you I would probably prefer another method like hair mascaras to cover gray hair also there is a new medicine that returns gray / white hair to its original colour but its not recommended if you have irritation or another problem on your head. Removing hair with electrolysis may take time up to 1 or 2 years.

In electrolysis the success depends on 'anagen phase' of the hair, that's the active, growing phase, complete removal depends on this stage. It's more successful to destroy follicles at this time.
