i did a 50% peel on a small scar on my cheek. i've never gotten a 50% peel and i believe the strongest i have received was 40%. so i was very surprised the next morning when that part of my face was swollen and still frosted. after a couple days a thick scabbed developed. i did research to see if the scabbing was normal, since with lower percentage tca and jessner peels, i never experienced such. from what i read, it was normal. after 10 days the scab came off but the area remained red. its been about a month and a half and the area is still reddish-pink. it is a bit lighter. i just would like any input from people that have experienced the same as me and can offer any advice, suggestions or general help.

thanks

errr...if you read up on tca peels, you should never do a 50% peel, you have to dillute it to a 25% with distilled water.
it sounds like you went overboard especialy as the frosty frozen appearance is ment to go away after 2 hours of treatment.

your skin is probably super thin and fragile, and will have the red marks for a long time. seek a doctor.

YEAH 50% TCA IS VERY STRONG TO USE AS A PEEL....PEOPLE PERFORM LIGHT TCA PEELS AND SOME ARE EVEN BRAVE ENOUGH TO DO 40% TCA PEELS BUT I WOULDNT GO THAT FAR....YOU SHOULD DEF GO TO A DOCTORS OFFICE, IM SURE HE WILL GIVE YOU A TOPICAL OR SOMETHING....I DO THE 50% TCA CROSS( CROSS IS WHERE YOU ONLY PUT TCA INSIDE THE SCAR, NOWHERE ELSE) SO MONTHS DOWN THE ROAD WHEN YOURE ALL HEALED, MAYBE YOU CAN HAVE THAT PERFORMED, I HOPE YOUR FACE IS OK AND GOOD LUCK

It sounds like you got a major burn. I would seek the advice of a Physician asap as you don't want further scarring. In the meantime, apply Aquaphor on it. It's what my Dermatologist had me apply after CO2 laser surgery.

i found aquaphor. when i first went looking for it i thought it would be by the neosporin for some reason, but it was in the regular lotion area.
i am using it before going to bed. should it be applied more often daily?
thanks biggrin.gif

I applied it every two hours when I had my co2 done, but I don't know how often you should apply it for your concern. I would definitely apply it pretty thick though. Have you seen your Dermatologist?

i had a 35% tca peel (obagi blue peel) and also applied the aquaphor pretty much 24/7 to keep the skin moist. good luck!
