Hi,

I think the bumps that are on my face are mostly pustules, although they are painful and usually pretty large which makes me think they could be something more severe.

Anyway, each one that I get usually takes at least 2 weeks to flatten and become less inflamed. Once it does, there is usually a brownish colored spot left (which is the same size as the bump was) which lasts another 3-5 weeks.

Sometimes it leaves a permanent, small, red mark.

Do most people's pimples last so long? Is there something I could do to help them disappear a little faster (ex. could my immune system be compromised or something?)

Thanks!!

Mine go away after 2 or 3 days in most cases. When i get a really deep rooted one (hasn't happened in a while know) it can take upwards of 1 week to heal. But thats just me.

Mine heal fast initially and the redness is gone within 2-3 days but the brown mark/hyperpigmentation lingers for a long time depending on how bad it is. My skin color is very unique, it's not too dark but not too light so my marks linger more than most people it seems.. I've had some marks go away within a month or so and some have been around for almost a year now and the worst type of acne I get are pustules...So unfortunately I just mark really badly, I can't imagine what cysts would do to me..I haven't found anything that really fades them faster, only some things lessen the appearance of them a bit...A good toner helps make them less obvious but I dislike using a daily toner..Aloe vera gel can help smooth the marks out a bit and also jojoba oil and vitamin E oil help a bit.. Or you could try AHA products but I haven't had much luck with them, though they work for many people.. I dunno, I think time is really the only way to cure those dark spots after pimples go away, everything else will just temporarily make them a bit less pronounced.

When they finally surface, they're gone within a couple days. Before that though, it's anyone's guess.

Once the pimple becomes inflamed it seems like forever, but usually 3-5 day for the inflammation to go down. The bump takes about a week sometimes two and that stubborn red mark takes like a month. WHY!!!!!!!!

Oh, jees. Mine ... I usually get white heads, but now-a-days I'm getting painful bumps. These take FOREVER. Between a week and a half to a month. It's freakin' annoying. And they always leave a BRiGHT red spot or a dark dark dark spot wherever it was. I recently had one, but it's in a good spot... So people actually don't really notice it--some actually said it looks nice. XD

My face used to be the exact same way. I would have the same zits for weeks and even months. That's when I was trying to clear my face with SA and BP. Ever since I started using Tea Tree Leaf Oil, my face has cleared up 100% and when I do get a zit...it's gone within three days.

It all depends really. I know you shouldnt, but f i was to pop a spot,, when its ready of course, i dab sudocream on it, and the spot in genral is gone after a day or 2, howver the mark can be left there for couple of weeks. But on average would say bout 2-3 days!

I have so many new ones i loose count of how long each has been there, but the jawline ones i can usually see developing under the skin before they appear - they are like flat hard white marks. then the spot gradually comes to the surface id say the spot lasts a week or 2, once it has dried out the red mark then stays there for ages! ontop of this i get frequent whiteheads every morning dispite a careful cleansing routine. sometimes after a big breakout my skin looks like its trying to heal itself, but then inevitably then a new batch will appear. argh!

Since I started the "Do Nothing Regimen" a day or two. Before I started they'd last for at least a week. Coincidence? I think not!

how do your guys zits last only a few days? Mines, even very small ones, last usually about a week.

I usually apply BP to these zits 2x a day as well.

I would say they stay inflamed for about 5 days to a week and half, and then the inflammation usually dies down (sometimes the inflammation goes down in 4-5 days).

Is this a long period of time for zits to stay inflamed?

If you are worried about the brown spots they leave behind, try hydroquinone 4%. You have to get a prescription for it, and like everything else, it can "take up to 12 weeks to get full results." I have used it before, and I use it right now to spot treat, and it's much the best thing out there to get rid of the brown spots/post inflammatory hyperpigmentation once a pimple is gone. I work in a medical center so it was easy access for me. Not sure what the dermatologist would say about it, but if you can get your hands on it, it's worth trying.

I don't know, but it seems everyday it just goes worse. It lasts forever, I think, because it just gets renewed (new pimples replaces the old pimple).

Wow, ya'll are lucky. Whenever I get a pimple, it usually takes 2 weeks to "die" and flatten, and another 3-6 months for the actual blemish to go away. I'm so jealous of all these people whose acne heals quickly. I have splotches all over my face from past pimples, and it looks like I've broken out all over my chin and nose even though only about 10% of my "acne" is actually a live zit or pimple. confused.gif

once the pimple comes to a head it last about 2 days and will then fall off in the shower when I wash my face. I sometimes get under the skin pimples and they seem to take forever. I have two right now that have been there for about 5 days with little progress. Just seem to get more inflamed.
