Depends on what caused the redness. If the redness is from irritation, cool compresses/ice/vaseline at bedtime plus stopping irritating topicals for at least a week. If the redness is from acne marks time will take care of it, and exfoliation products may help hasten the red mark departure. If the redness is from rosacea, then the doctor can prescribe topicals or perhaps some systemic treatments that may help redness.
It's safer to use a gentle cleanser as well like Purpose, Cetaphil, or Dan's.
