Neosporin is great! My son is on accutane and I asked the derm. She said to use polysporin instead because it doesnt have that third ingredient....I just didnt listen close enough to ask what that third was. LOL. I use it on him all the time. It heals things faster.

No...It doesnt get rid of acne, it just helps in the healing process. It heals twice as fast in my opinion. Like when you get a scab from popping. Put it on it! Even fresh ones. It keeps the skin hydrated and has stuff in it to kill bacteria.

Neosporin comes in a cream. You can just rub it in and leave it on.

^ I tend to agree based Neosporin cream might be a better choice since none of the ingredients are comedogenic. (A member checked and each rated 0 on the comedogenic scale). You can rub it in with a q-tip as a spot treatment for red marks or on spots and it quickly disappears without leaving a shiny/oily area.... plus it seems to lack the capacity to cause breakouts.

Neosporin ointment has that vaseline-like consistency, making it nearly impossible to use outside the house... .....plus it seems more apt to clog pores since the base is so oily.

Neosporin cream seems to work great for the same purpose without the oily sheen or comedogenicity. The ointment appears to work best under banadages to heal wounds. You can generally find neosporin cream (or the store's generic version called "antibiotic cream") next to the ointment in most drug stores or Walmart.

I had a cluster of really bad red marks on my right cheek that never left my face for 5 years in a row (I swear to God) but using Neosporin cream cleared them all within about a month, it was unbelievable!

COOL! I'm going to switch from the ointment to the cream. I'm a big neosporin fan!

I actually tried neosporin about a week ago, and saw that it really does work (or maybe it was just coincidence). I was using tea tree oil to treat my acne, but since it was my first time using it, I kept dabbing my inflamed spot with undiluted tea tree oil (dumb move), and after 2 days, I realized that there were big, brown very dark circles where I applied tea tree oil. So after reading about neosporin, I decided to give it a try. I basically applied neosporin when I'm at home, and overnight. After less than 2 days, my "dark spots" peeled to reveal pink skin underneath. Then 2 days later, the pink area became a lil' more skin colored, but not nearly as bad.
