Who here has gotten acne WHILE being on the pill? And then quit the pill and your acne went away? For example, lets say you have been on the pill for 3 years and all of a sudden you broke out for no reason, so you quit the BCP and you acne went away. Or do you know of anyone this has happened to?
I am curious because my friend and I take the same birth control pill, ortho-tricyclen and for some odd reason we both started brekaing out after having clear skin for 4 years. Like both after taking it for exactly four years!! Weird coincidence or NO?

Hmmm, I was going to suggest that maybe your pill was higher in progesterone and not estrogen, but that is not the case with OTC, so I am not sure. Bizarre.

Going through the same thing with Diane...5 years of clear skin and now breakouts...Not sure whether it's the pill stopping to work or if I'm doing something else to trigger...but weird!..

Weird indeed that you develop this symptom at exactly the same time! But otherwise it happens to more people that they get side effects years after taking the same pill without any problems. So it might be like that.

For me, acne became a problem when I started Yasmin, while it is the same BC I had used without problems for a year or so. Suddenly it seemed to cause acne! I quit it two weeks ago, still hoping to see improvement

I was on birth control for a year and a half, but then had to quit b/c of weight gain. I was surprised to see that my face DID NOT break out at all, it actually looked better than when I was on the birth control.

BCP were the catalyst for my cystic acne. Sure, I had breakouts when I was a teenager; I'd even been to a derm before. But nothing could have prepared me for how horrible my face would look after a month on BCP. I stuck with it for seven months, thinking it was just an initial breakout, but I finally had to give up. Unfortunately, mine did NOT clear up when I stopped the pills and I am still dealing with cysts two years later.

My experience is far from typical, but just goes to show that different people really do react differently. There are no guarantees where acne is concerned, unfortunately.

mine got so bad while i was on YAZ. i stopped taking it a week b4 i went on accutane and my skin started to get a little better. i refuse to take birth control pills again bc of weight gain and pimples i got while on it

Let's see, my face started breaking out when I was around 19. I got on depo provera for 2 years and then got off that and started taking Ortho. It helped for a while and then my face started to break out again so I stopped taking it. My face got worse so I got back on it and it was pretty good for a while and then over the last few years after being switched to tri sprintec and then trinessa my face got worse. I was getting a lot of cystic acne. I switched to yaz and then got a superficial phlebitis in my arm and had to stop taking hormonal birth control. Since then my face has been pretty darn clear. I got a couple of blemishes before my period this time but they were really small and healed up within a few days. I am on benzaclin too so I think that really helped but I do believe the pill was making my acne much worse.

i had HORRIBLE acne when i was pretty young and ortho tri cyclen clreaed my skin pretty well... since then ive tried like 6 different pills and none of them have completely clreared my skin... so i went back on ortho tri cyclen today. i wonder if my skin would clrear up if i STOP taking ANY BCP. im too scared to try it and have my skin go back to the way it was in the beginning!
