Hey everyone,

After a month of lurking, I've decided to go public! I have several (and I mean several - over 30) ice pick scars on my cheeks & temples from years of severe cystic acne (even went through a round of Accutane). I've been reading about punch excisions and was wondering if any of you have had the procedure done for ice pick scars. What do you think of the results and how much does it cost per scar?

Thanks for your help!

Carol

By the way I am a 31-year old female, post divorce, ready to start looking good again! :o

Hi Carol...Welcome! user posted image

I have had multiple procedures done to revise scars and including punch grafting. I only had a few ice picks and it worked very well for me. Skin was taken from behind my ear to plug the scar. About a year after this I had another dermabrasion to smooth over the area. I was very pleased.

Now, if TCA cross had been around when I had this done I might have gone that route. People are having good luck with this and ice picks.

Good Luck with your treatments!!

~Misty

Thanks Misty! biggrin.gif I have been researching TCA Cross and Punch Excisions on the 'net since I read your reply. Both look like good options for me, so as soon as I'm not unemployed anymore ](*,) I'll be checking more into them. Hopefully I can find some reputable docs in the Dallas/Fort Worth area that do these procedures!

TCA cross will leave no scar, but excision will leave a line scar.

What about having an excision and then using TCA to erase the line scar? A line is much easier to peel away than a hole, right?

It doesn't work that way. Read the TCA cross thread and then you will understand. Doing a tca peel won't erase a scar like that or it would have been done before.
