Hello ladies..I will not go through a long sob story on my acne..it is obviously hormaonal, and big time!!

I am 22 ,5'3 105 pds..with hair on my upper lip ext...I have veeeeeeery irregular periods, I mean they are crazy..to the point of me staying on my menses for 6 mnths straight, or not comming on for 6 mnths straight...
I have been ytring to fight this hell, the "holistic way", and I do believe that it helps, bbut I honestly do noyt have time to wait for results with diet alone...

So, I need to know some things...pleassssssssssssse ..

I am a student in fitness and nutrition right now...I dont have insurance..

I was wondering, WHERE DO YOU GUYS GO TO GET YOUR PRESCRIPTIONS FOR SPIRO?>
WHAT STATES DO YOU LIVE IN?

Basically I asked three doctors here in st. louis to prescribe the med ofr me..spiro..and they would not..I have mild acne...that only, I mean only shows up on my chin..and ,mostly white heads..2 or 3 , and clogged pores on my chin...
And now, a deep one, that looks nodule like??


Anywho, are any one of you from the st.louis missouri area, and have gotten spiro, if so...what is the doctor's name, and also what hospital? or what dermatologist ?

I want to know also, if dermatologist prescribes it as well?

Please, if you are not from my area, then what doctor/derms do you guys go to that have prescribed gthe spiro...I will pay out of pocket, to have a consultaytion with a derm/doctor..and to get the spiro..

Please guys..I am despereate...and have no other reason, but to believe that I have an high tetesterone count..and I need spiro to leeon it...I want good bright skin..and that is it!!

Im sorry Im not from St Louis so cant help on that front but after I read your post I really had to write as I was suffering with similar symptoms for the last few years and no dermatologists ever ran any blood tests or correctly diagnosed me

The symptoms you mentioned (irregular periods, excess hair, acne etc..) are all symptoms of PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). Your testosterone is probably high and you should prob take spiro + BCP to alleviate your symptoms and reduce risks of others you mau develop.

An endocrinologist familiar with PCOS would be ideal and would prob prescribe you Spiro. Thats how I got mine

Okay, I do understand I might have pcos, however I have alIieveiated most of my symptoms with diet alone..fatigue,lenthagic, ext..
Now, I am dealing with constant chin acne, missing/prolonged menses/hairy face..lol..
I told my GP, last yr, and all he said, was well you dont have the weight ..I m like okay, uuuuh, well I have every other symptom...and from there I just tried to do it with diet alone..

Okay, what doc/endocrinologist did you go to?
because I will ste up an appointment /consultaion with him/her...I cant find one here..
no matter how hard I search....and it sucks..
So, what is your endo's info?

please, or atleast give me the name of the fascility that you go to THAT PRESCRIBED YOU THE MED...THE SPIRO..

Im sorry to hear that your GP said that - thats completely inaccurate. I don't have any weight issues, and actually have very regular periods but still have PCOS. Women with PCOS have a very wide array of symptoms, some only have the hair problems and nothing else

I thankfully found a great endocrinologist in nyc who is a specialist in PCOS and treating its symptoms (acne, hirstuism, etc..). His name is Dr. Walter Futterweit (just google him and you'll find the number and info). He is incredibly caring and has been studying and treating women with PCOS for over 25 years. I couldn't recommend him enough. Unfortunately he doesn't take insurance but its worth a shot! He prescribed Spiro + BCP for me after a very thorough examination, blood work and ultrasound.

I just started Spiro. My derm is in Chicago. I am taking one pill at night for the first week and then increasing to two at night for the second. By the third week I am increasing to 3 pills. In addition I am using topicals: Duac + and Retin-A micro. I wash with Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash in the morning and Cetaphil at night. During the day it's 30 spf. I only wear minimal makeup and soon am switching over to Everyday Minerals line.

My derm took one look at my acne which is mostly just on my cheeks and jaw line area. It's only been a few days and already I am going outside without makeup on and seeing a difference. I've read a ton about Spiro and I elected not to go on the pill because it fucks with all your hormones. Spiro only blocks the bad guys (testosterone) androgens that make you break out.
