What really helped my daughter a while back was Bactrim and biomedic plus peels every two weeks. They are salicylic acid based. That would be an emergency short-run measure you could try. Her skin was gorgeous during for two years.

Accutane works for some and not for others. It is not guaranteed. It did not work for my daughter and her IB was so bad that it left her with scars which she did not have before accutane. It does, however, work wonderfully for some people and I think it is worth a try. For some, the acne never comes back.

She took Yasmin first and felt her skin changing within the first month. The derm added 25 mgs the 2nd month and 25 mgs the next. That is where she has stayed. She was clear in 4 months but she did continue to take antibiotics and felt that she could not get off of them. She still feels that way I think - sigh. I think a higher dose might work better for most people but her derm so far has not suggested that and she does not want to go any higher.

I think the spiro might work for you since you have the body/facial hair increase. The spiro would probably help with that also.

I want to try Spiro too! My derm is having me wait a bit (until I've gone through at least a month on Yasmin) before trying Spiro. Personally, Accutane scares me a bit. Way too many side effects (though I guess Spiro has them too..) but I think for hormonal acne, Spiro would probably work better.. I'm fairly certain mine is all hormone related, so I hope I'll get Spiro in a couple weeks... let me know what you decide! smile.gif
