Hey everybody,

I have, like many of you, tried almost every acne medication under the sun, except for Accutane, which i'm not entirely willing to go on.

I have read a lot of different things about the benefit of Green Tea so i decided to try it. MY first day was today and I had two cups of hot green tea, but I had a kinda interesting idea...

I found zinc lozenges in my house upstairs and I know that zinc is good for acne and the prevention of pimples so i ground up a lozenge which broke down even more once i put them in the tea. They are orange flavored and really didn't taste badly at all...

After i steeped the tea i rubbed the tea bag on my face which felt very soothing...

I hope to see less pimples and decreased redness... I'll let you all know how it goes!!

i've been drinking a pitcher of green tea (chilled of courseee, it's summer!) every day for three days now, and so far i haven't gotten any new pimples, and the ones i had are gone. it tastes yummy too with honey as a sweetener and a little bit of fresh lemon squeezed in.

smile.gif good luck

I love green tea, I used to drink it so much and my face looked really good when I was drinking it but I was stupid and didn't think it was benefiting from the green tea.
Yesterday I had two cups of green tea and my face looks amazing today, I will continue this method, it's great, and green tea is so good for you.

Does it matter if the tea is hot or cold?

Does it matter if the tea is hot or cold?

You can drink it hot or cold, BUT you have to brew it hot. The 'good stuff' (polyphenols) are released only at higher temperatures (~170F). You can let it cool down afterward. Now, too hot of a temperature will leave your green tea tasting like a poison juice, really bitter (unlike its black brother, which can be brewed steaming hot).

Green tea should be brewed at ~180 to 190 F, although I would keep it at low 180s. If you don't have a thermometer just put water to boil and let it get to a rolling boil, then turn off the heat and move the tea kettle away from the burner. Wait for 3 minutes and then you have ~180F water. Make sure you get the water from the sink, if you let it sit, like bottled water, it loses its oxygen which is needed to get the full flavor of green tea. Also, 2-3 minutes of steeping is OK for most types of green tea, always follow directions if they come with your green tea. Buy loose leafs if possible, the taste and experience is astonishingly better. If you are gonna get into loose leafs, Japanese are usually of better quality, although my favorite is Chinese (gunpowder tea, which you can add some mint while brewing and about 1.3 pounds of sugar and you have got yourself a colloquial Moroccan drink, I prefer it without all that sugar and just a hint of lime., but when in Morocco...).

You can add lemon, lime, or citric juices which help you absorb the 'good stuff' (I prefer lime, but that's because I am of spanish origins, we don't use that much lemon). Milk is normally not added to green tea, but rather to the darker teas.

IM me if you have more questions or want recommendations on lose leafs + where to buy online.
