I guess my skin is too oily for grapeseed oil. The pin sized zits won't stop! I love how it tones the rest of my skin though and is light. I hated jojoba oil in the past so I'm not using that.
No big pimples still and I had the cookies on Sunday.

Someone suggest Kukui nut oil for a lighter oil to use on my face. I bought 1 oz cold pressed on ebay for $6.

I use a mixture of Hazelnut Oil and Borage Seed Oil to moisturise and it's lovely smile.gif
Hazelnut Oil is usually recommended for oily skin as it is a light oil, is easily absorbed, and is also known for its astringent properties (I don't have oily skin, but my pores look smaller from using it)
And Borage Seed is known to be "regenerative" for the skin... not sure what that means, but my face always glows after using it!
Let me know how the Kukui nut oil goes, I'm thinking about trying that out when my Hazelnut oil runs out... xoxo

PS: this has heaps of information on carrier oils

Ooo thank you for suggesting something. I get so lost on oils. I never thought of borage oil other than people taking it internally but I'll look up both oils.

That's alright! I was meant to send you a link but it didn't come up sad.gif (I'm a newbie haha)
My mummah is really into aromatherapy, always has been - I was one of those kids who would get a cold and be treated with Eucalyptus oil instead of cough medicine - and I've kind of inherited it smile.gif I know what you mean about getting lost on oils though!! I'm still experimenting!!
I read through some of your posts, it was a good read smile.gif I'm a long time vegetarian CONSIDERING veganism, so it was really helpful!

Do you use some oils to spot treat pimples? I always stick with the trusty bp 10% but like oregano or manuka oil. if you're vegetarian, it should be easy to go vegan because you should be avoiding dairy right now anyways with acne. eggs give me acne too because of the iodine content so it's easy.

I have been trailing off my diet because a staple food in my diet wasn't in stock at my grocery store. I didn't even break out from those cookies! Pretty cool. I've had fast food yesterday and today so I'll wait to see on that. Still waiting on that oil. Maybe I'll start adding in oats because I stopped when it came up at the "highest" on my allergy test.
I'm trying to find somewhere online where I can buy some (small bottle) hazelnut oil so if anyone can suggest, thanks.

p.s- i want to add that i dont condone eating junk food and fast food. it may not show on the outside but inside it's doing it's damage. but everyone is allowed to cheat a little. tongue.gif

high fructose corn syrup. i've read eggs are bad but you can search to be sure and most likely cheese too since it's dairy.
i have posted a list of foods they recommend.
http://www.acne.org/messageboard/index.php...p;#entry2314556

As far as a vegan diet/argument goes, dairy is much worse for you than eggs. Human beings have only been eating dairy for about 10,000 years, which isn't enough time to be able to fully process the food. Also, the only people who have been eating dairy this long are of northern european descent; other people didn't incorporate dairy until much later, and most of the world can't digest dairy properly or have allergies to dairy or are lactose intollerant. I mean, when you think about it, it seems kind of wrong for a human to drink milk meant for baby cows. Baby cows have quite different nutritional needs than us--they need lots of fat, lots of vitamins, etc concentrated in a relatively small amount of food. DON'T GET ME WRONG, cheese is delicious. it really is, but not so good for you.

Eggs, on the other hand, humans have been eating forever, basically (anatomically modern humans, that is--and we've only existed for about 200,000 yrs. that's nothing!). Eggs have lots of minerals, are high in protein, and considering how much they fill you up, low in calories. You just can't go overboard with eggs. And don't fry them if you're worried about fat! Eat them poached or hardboiled. I eat a hardboiled egg every once in a while when i feel i need a little extra protein.

I suggested it because my skin can't handle the eggs. I had them in my diet in the past and I would get nasty break outs. I believe it's from the iodine in it. I seem to be sensitive to foods with it. Probably one of the reason I break out eating salmon, soy and dairy.

I use tea-tree to spot treat! It works for me, but I do find it a bit drying because I don't dilute it hah... I probably should!
I want to try oregano oil!! In my essential oil kit atm is: Lavender, Lemon, Geranium, Rosemary, Clary-Sage, and Eucylyptus radiata. Do you have any other oils from your personal experience you would recommend??
Using geranium/lemon as a whole face treatment seems to make my skin glow.. I only use one-two drops for my whole face though!!

As for where to buy Hazelnut oil... hmm... I buy mine from Sydney Essential Oil Co which is online, they are the most reasonable with price and offer heaps of certified organic products. I live in Brisbane though.. I think you could try and track down a good aromatherapy place based in your country and go from there??

I've used tea tree oil in the past but didn't like it. Manuka oil is supposed to be similar but less drying. I haven't gone that far with essential oils. I have bought lavender oil but then I read it can mess up your hormones and photosensitive so I didn't use it more than once and don't remember if I got any results. I have bought peppermint oil too because it's supposed to help with oil control but it's also a skin irritant. Oregano oil has to be diluted a lot or it'll burn easily, otherwise I like it for it's antibacterial properties. It can take down a zit fast. I heard it's good to take internally but I'm not going to.
It's fine, I bought some hazelnut oil on ebay that was cold pressed smile.gif.

Hmm, I might try out Manuka oil next!! Thanks for that smile.gif
The ones I listed is the first set of essential oils I bought, so I'm still experimenting with them!
Lavender doesn't do anything for me acne wise, really.. I just love the scent, and I love putting it on my pillow haha. It's meant to be great for other things too, like burns, mosquito bites, etc... but for skin care it's pretty useless (from my experience). But jeez, how does it mess up your hormones?! That's a bit scary, haha.
I've stolen my mums peppermint oil before, I only used it once so the jurys out but I love the smell hehe!
Oh okay that's awesome!! Did you end up trying kukui nut oil?? xoxo
PS: sorry for my lengthy posts haha, I'm a ranter sad.gif

"The tests showed that lavender and tea tree oils may boost estrogen (a sex hormone that promotes female characteristics and is linked to breast development) and hamper androgens (sex hormones that promote male characteristics and inhibit breast growth)." I don't need anymore hormones! (even though lowering androgens is a good thing for acne..)
No, I haven't gotten the oils yet. I guess it's going to be longer since it's a holiday weekend here.

I was reading a health blog and she went on talking about how your skin absorbs everything you put on it. That's why some hormone creams, medicines or patches like with birth control or smoking works through the skin. Pretty scary thinking about all the stuff people (including myself) have put on their faces or body. Maybe that's why cancer is so high. I remember reading how some beauty product chemicals are found in tumors. That's a reason to not use cheap makeup online that is made from China. There's a website that has a pallet everyone loves but the ingredients are nasty. Same thing with foundations or lotions. It makes me want to only use organic products but I know it's pricey.

Idk, I thought I would share because it shocks me to realize it and will bring me more awareness when shopping at a drugstore and thinking of using some chemical laden body moisturizer with names I can't even pronounce.

Starting the hazelnut oil today. I got a weird itchy pimple on my chin. My zits normally aren't itchy for me and haven't come up on the chin in awhile. I had itchy pimples in the past but I'm sure it was cause by the Acnomel which I stopped. Hopefully it's done since I put honey on it and it doesn't itch.

Stopping the hazelnut oil today. Haha. I only used two drops and it felt like it wasn't being absorbed at all. Grapeseed oil absorbed beautifully but broke me out. I'm using the kukui nut oil instead.

That itchy pimple I talked about never came to head on my chin. However, strangely enough, I felt like 2 or 3 other pimples by it but only one came to head and it was a pin size zit. Very weird. My pimples are not cystic anymore, not even really my pms zits and those always were cystic and painful. Maybe the inflammation in my body is going down and that's why? The only place I have been breaking out was on my chin and that makes sense since it's that time.

I'm still taking the orthotricyclen, pine bark extract, acai and zinc. That's it. Maybe I'll start taking vitamin D again since it's always praised even in vitamin form. I used to take it with the tons of other vitamins in the past. I'm pretty content with my skin anyways.

My skin is doing well. The kukui nut oil hasn't broken me out. However, I do wish I could still use actual moisturizers instead because my oily skin just pushes out even more oil as the day goes by.
I remember how my derm gave me samples of CeraVe but I checked the ingredients and they have bad ingredients in it like petrolatum, dimethicone, parabens, ceteareth 20 and cetearyl alcohol. If my skin could tolerate 'cones then I could use so many moisturizers sad.gif.

I bought hydrogen peroxide on Monday because I have read how it can wipe out a pimple but I also knew the risks like how it's a free radical and it can hinder skin from growing. I put it on my little breakouts and yep, wiped them out. It came to head in about a minute and some even popped themselves. It was surprising lol. I have read how people use it as an all over toner but I would never resort to that.

I don't have any actual pimples right now.

Haha I love reading your blog smile.gif
It's nice to read a progress of clearing your skin, rather than a post saying 'this is what cleared me and will clear you!" haha.
I'm sorry that the hazelnut oil didn't work for you!! Don't trust me in the future!!
I find it absorbs really quickly on my skin (whereas grapeseed didn't for me! Grapeseed is amazing at removing makeup though) but it isn't very 'nourishing' if that makes sense... it's nothing I can complain about, but I still sometimes have dryish skin..
Anyway keep posting, I like learning about aromatherapy in skin care smile.gif xx

Thanks. Well, it may have been that I was using too much. I cut down to only one drop of oil and it seems a little dry but I bet it'll get less oily in a couple hours. Have you heard of Emu oil? People seem to like that especially for healing their skin but some people on makeupalley have broken out badly from it, so we'll see if I buy it in the future.

Do you know anything about acids? I'm thinking about trying a mild lactic acid toner since glycolic breaks me out to try and fade the red marks more.

I think I'm going to try just using water again. I kept on getting a lot of irritation and thought it was how my skin behaved but I just used water last night and this morning and didn't need any oil. Hopefully I don't get little pin size zits like what I remember happening last time.

How they faded? Most likely time, diet and papaya soap.

I have heard of emu oil! It sounds pretty good for skin, but I don't really like the idea of using emu oil on my skin... I think emu's are cute, hahha. If you do try it let me know how it goes, but I don't think I'll be doing it simply for personal reasons...
I don't know much about them, other than what I have just read on the boards or on the Paula's choice website. I really want to try Dan's AHA+ lotion though, but I'm not sure if it would be that beneficial on my skin as most positive reviews are from people with 'mature' skin!!
So I'll think about it...
Where do you buy papaya soap??
Your skin looks absolutely amazing in those updated photos, by the way!! Stunning!!

I can understand. The idea of a bird's fat on my skin makes me nervous lol and plus they say it doesn't smell so great. You can buy the soap at Asian markets/stores but since there are none by me I buy online like Ebay or Amazon. The bars last forever too. I remember looking at Dan's AHA and didn't like the other ingredients. & thanks for the compliment smile.gif

Thank you. Hope the same for you smile.gif

I started the PCA Smoothing Toner last night but only on my t-zone and a little down the sides of my face to make sure I don't have a bad reaction. It's supposed to help with hyperpigmentation. It didn't burn or anything so that's a good sign. I was told that PCA skincare is used by estheticians so you know it's quality stuff. Plus all their items are really expensive. 1 oz of a pigment corrector serum is like $42+. I just got the PCA Phase 13 Pigment Bar online for $13.50 when it normally sells for around $30! That will be interesting to try once I get it in the mail.
Here is a description:

Pigment Bar is the cleansing companion in PCA's pigment control program, designed to enhance and maintain the complexion-refining results produced by its sister products. pHaze 13 Pigment Bar helps control blemish outbreaks and discolorations as it cleanses the skin of dirt and debris. For pigment control maintenance, use two to three times weekly.

Recommended Use:
Moisten enclosed sponge and work up a creamy lather. Cleanse affected area, allowing lather to remain on skin approximately 2 minutes. Rinse with warm water and pat dry. Follow with appropriate PCA Skin products as directed.

Ingredients:
Water/Aqua/Eau, Saponins, Glycerin, Vegetable Oil/Olus/Huile Vegetale, Sorbitol, Lecithin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Kojic Acid, Azelaic Acid, Maltose, Glucosamine, Tannic Acid, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Sodium Lactate, Niacinamide, Calcium Ascorbate, Aniba Rosaeodora (Rosewood) Wood Oil.

The kojic acid is what is known to fade the pigmentation. All the other ingredients seem nice especially the niacinamide which has been linked to help with acne topically and orally. Maybe it will replace my Likas papaya soap but that depends on how drying it actually is because people have said it is. I have still been rinsing with water and it's all good. I don't use any oils on my face either now.
