Hi all, sorry if this is in the wrong section but I didn't know where to put it. Anyway, I have been using Differin gel the highest percentage (forget which 0.6 maybe?) but my skin has been decent since using it. It has pretty much cleared up my forehead besides the redness I get every day. My chin and cheeks have been kind of shaky as of late. It seems to clean them up quickly at first, and then just break out some later.

I was on tazorac for quite some time in late 2006 and through part of 2007, and I was also on minocycline. I am still on minocycline now, but my face basically cleared up a lot for quite a long time when I was on tazorac. It took a while at first, of course, but now I am wondering if I should switch back for the summer if I had so much success. I quit because the peeling got kind of annoying after a while. But anyway, I use tazorac on my back and chest and my chest has only had a few pimples in months. I am starting to think that tazorac was my product, and I should have never changed in the first place. I have benzoyl peroxide I use on my body in the shower, and on my forehead. Maybe I should use it all over my face with differin to prevent breakouts?

If I switch back to taz for the summer, will it take weeks before I see results and will I get an IB most likely? Of course, I have used it before, but will my skin act like I am using it for the first time again? I just want to get my skin back to what it was a year ago, because at that time I was really pleased. Thoughts and comments are really appreciated. Thanks! Please move this to the right forum too. smile.gif

What is this redness you get everyday?

And did Differin make your skin dry and tight all the time? Did your skin ever adjust to the Differin and stop peeling etc? How long did you use it for?

I dont think you would get an initial breakout if you made an immediate switch which I think is what you want to do. Differin has kept your pores relatively clear, so I dont think there would be any comedones there that you cant see yet which is what would cause an IB.

Most people when they use Retinoids say after a few months of use there skin stops peeling and looking dry and adjust to the medication. Sounds like with Taz yours never did which is strange.

Well my dryness is always here in the morning, but moisturizer takes care of it. The main problem with Taz was that my face was really red all the time. It cleared my skin up. The best my face looked was after I stopped using tazorac. My face stayed clear for about 3 months and then started to get worse again, so I started taking differin. Differin doesn't really cause many problems. It just doesn't seem to be nearly as good as tazorac was. Thanks for the help.

hi there, i just came across this forum and i found it helpful. may i ask, i started to take minocin capsules 100mg/day as my md ordered today. my dermatologist before prescribed me tazorac cream and it worked before but i was not able to continue it but it really works. now im planning to start over again with tazorac but ive read that:
"TAZORACĀ® Cream and Gel should not be used if you are also taking other drugs that increase your sensitivity to sunlight (e.g., thiazides, tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones, phenothiazines, sulfonamides). Inform your physician if you are taking any other medications."
now im confused, is it really not advisable to use both due to photsensitivity? what's going to happen? any inputs will be appreciated. thanks!

Well, I have been taking both for well over a year, and all you need to do is make sure you use sunscreen whenever you're going to be in the sun for long periods of time. I really didn't find many problems.
