hdboy glad to see your making progress.

I am using differin0.1% gel for 3 weeks exactly as of today. I have combination skin with my nose(just the tip) being the most oily. However, I am thinking of changing to the cream version. How do you find the cream version of Differin? Some say its more moisturizing.

Do you need to exfoliate dead skin cells off your face still after 5 weeks of usage? I find in the hot shower dead skin comes off alot. I am hoping this will settle down soon.

And do you need to moisturize throughout the day and night?

I tried the Gel in the winter and it was wayyy to drying for my skin. The cream is so much better. I got dry for like a day, then I was really really oily hhaha now it seems to be calming down and balancing. but If you have dry skin I recomend the cream its wonderful. I have oilyish skin in the summer and its been really good. I never dry out. I only dry out when i spot treat with neutrogena on the spot 2.5%BP haha. I do moisturize day and night though. before using differin at night.

yeah I apply moisturizer on my skin, im using a new one that im in love with already. My face looks so fresh and clean after using it (moisturizer) its Olay Complete All day Moisture SPF 15 for sens. skin. It contains aloe and vitamin E so it gets rid of red marks from pimples and my sunburns going away. Using differin you should really use some SPF..i ignored that but Olay's saving me! Its amazing. anyways. The cream is really emollient, and it feels kinda slimy..haha. But its not drying at all, so I dont mind the shinyness of my face because no one will see me (im just going to bed with it on).

so basically. Cleanse, (Cleocin lotion for me before moisturizing), moisturize, Differin

Cheers Hdboy.

I got the Differin cream today and usd some and yes it feels kind of greasy. Like it never soaks in. I hope that when I sleep and my face touches the pillow it doesnt rub off too much and the medication can do its work.

Petey also suggested to moisturize first. I too am just looking for a good moisturizer. I will try that Olay one I think.

thanks again.

Please do try the Olay Complete one. It's amazing! Like gold in a bottle. All my friends are using it now, and it even fades redness with the vitamin E and aloe inside. It will NOT ever break you out.

Man, After 2 days of using the cream my face has kind of semi broken out?!

I am not sure if this is a coincidence or not. I am 3 weeks and 3 days into using Differin, maybe still IB?
Alot of ppl say that after 7 weeks things get alot better. You seemed to be having a horrible time, then after 5 weeks you posted your skin was doing great all of a sudden.

But one thing the cream does do is it seems to help take the dry dead skin cells off where as the gel didnt. By that I mean the when I wash the cream of in the morning alot of dead skin will come off easier than when i was using the gel. The moisturizing effect of the cream probably makes the dead skin cells slide off easier.

My face looks soooo shiny with this stuff on though, the gel gets the nod in that area.

Maybe use moisturizer then the gel on top would be the best bet? I dont know. I will continue with the cream for a while and see what happens.

Gonna go cop that Olay stuff sometime this week too.

I always moisturize and then apply the Differin Cream and its still shiny..I just got used to not looking at myself in the mirror after applying it smile.gif. hhaha I've also been spot treating with neutrogena's 2.5% on the spot BP...IT helps so much with the IB which Is still happening to me. Obviously I didn't really knock on wood when i said *knock on wood* a day after that i broke out again. The DIFFERIN WEBSITE http://www.differin.com/ says itll take at least 6-8 weeks for the IB to calm down because breakouts form under the skin 8 weeks before they come to a head. I say stick to the cream.

cheers hdboy.

one thing that u might want to try to help any redness and inflammation is go buy some over the counter hydrocortisone cream and apply it to any inflammed pimples once to twice per day. As far as I know you can use it in conjunction with BP and differin.

the insert says you should expect to "SEE" results between 8-12 weeks of usage. Give it 12 weeks and if things dont look good maybe try something new.

12 week wait sucks, esp when you dont even know if its going to work, but I think its worth the wait, you have already gone 6 weeks it would be a waste to pull out now.

try and keep strong and persevere. I switched to the cream and have a decent amount of small bumps on my forehead now. As AsiaX said once, just give up on having nice skin for about 8-12 weeks, and try not to examine things it will only make it harder.

all the best, im approaching week 4.

I have like 4 red dots (redmarks) and like little tiny red bumps but they can hardly be called "actives". So far Im pleased..but Need more improvment to actually reccomend it. Oh well in 2 weeks ill post again, ITLL BE MY 12TH WEEK !!!!! Time really flew
