I wonder if they think they are staring right into that person's soul? For the unblemished and unmarred, it almost becomes a kind of power trip, I think. I mean, if not, why don't they stare at the healthy skin surrounding a person's scars? I sometimes think the staring is meant to try to keep the other person "down", and in their place...

I think it is an unvoluntary reation on people's part. I do think it should be checked if someone does it. But I don't think 99% of the people out there are deliberately cruel.

Hmmmmm, maybe not 99% but a good deal of them could use better manners at the very least.
