Be careful with the fish oils - some people are allergic. So if your skin gets worse like mine did, it's probably an allergy, not "purging". When my skin was awful I was taking fish oil and cod liver oil. Since it was bad for other reasons, I couldn't tell whether the oils were helping or not.

My skin starting clearing a lot after going gluten free, eating more olive oil, and other changes. I hadn't taken fish oils in almost 6 months to save money. Then I started cod liver oil for a few weeks, and my skin got progressively more itchy and bumpy, almost like hives on my cheeks and jawline. I stopped, and now it's better again.

Since i know how healthy fish oil is for you, I might try fish oil (not cod liver) after my skin is completely clear and see how I react. Also, I hear that people have fewer reactions to salmon oil, so I might try that.

Overall though, this regimen makes a lot sense. Just be conscious about the fish oils, or any new supplement you start taking regularly.

Hey guys, this regimen was working quite well for me after 5 or 6 weeks, used alongside exfoliation/ACV topically (which cleared my forehead of comedones) - however recently I've started breaking out with whiteheads again, which I wasn't doing so much before. One thing I changed was dropping soy milk (I've had it on my cereal every morning for years and thought the hormones might be hurting me) but since I haven't gotten around to getting almond milk yet I switched my breakfast to fruit and vegetables. I was wondering if I might not be getting enough fat with breakfast anymore to absorb some of the supplements properly?

The other thing is I did stop the olive oil probably around 2 weeks ago, because I suspected I might be mildly allergic, as I tried using it topically and it made my face itch like crazy.

So right now I'm thinking of waiting it out a week, trying to get more sleep (it's exam study season so my schedules been all messed up which might have something to do with this) - my question is - if my skin doesn't settle down soon, should I try going back to olive oil first or back to soy milk (or almond milk)? I don't want to do both at once again because then I'll never figure it out wink.gif

i couldnt find the twin labs and carlson fish oil available in my area so i bought the following: Seven seas pure cod liver oil. A 10ml serving (2 teaspoons) contains the following:

EPA :828mg
DHA: 736mg
Vit A: 4000 I.U
Vit D: 400 I.U
Vit E: 10 I.U

i was wondering whether this would be a sufficient substitute for the twin labs and carlson fish oil? anyone able to help?

Ok, so I'm going to try Romeo's regimen, but I'm confused about elliminating dairy from my diet. How many mg of calcium am I supposed to be taking to make up for all the dairy I'm not eating? Romeo doesn't give specific numbers. My calcium pills say 500 mg and they also contain 125 IU of Vitamin D-- the bottle lists that as one serving (one pill), which is 50% of your daily calcium and 31% of your Vitamin D. But the directions on the bottle say to take two pills a day, which would give me 100% of my daily value of Calcium and 62% of my Vitamin D. Is this an OK amount, especially if I"m also getting Vitamin D from my fish oils? Is all this calcium going to be absorbed anyway?

Can someone with experience living dairy free give me some advice? I'd appreciate it!

I take evening primrose oil for hormonal acne, so would it be ok to continue the regimen as normal or should i drop one of the other oils out.

Also, do you think these vitamins and probiotics seem ok.

I've been lurking on these boards for some time, but have never posted anything until now. I am in my early 30's and have had breakouts for half my life. But it has been especially bad in the last year or 2 (ever since I had my 1st child). I starting using Dans regime, and I use ACV as a toner after washing my face to help remove makeup. But after about 4 weeks of dding the vitamins and fish oils suggested, my skin is about 98% clear!!! Maybe I shouldnt jinx it, but I believe the supplements have DEFINATELY made the difference. I cancelled the appointment I had made to see yet another dermatoligist because my skin looks much better~! Thank you!!!

Welp, I guess I'm allergic to fish oil or something. When I started using carlsons I got super giant cysts all over, so I tried hemp oil, borage, and flax. More cysts from each. What the hell do I do now?

edit: just noticed this thread is ancient. I'll post elsewhere I guess.

Should this topic be pinned because the regimen seems so well researched?

Would taking an antacid as a source of calcium negate the effects of olive oil or omega-3 in this regimen?

OK, I did not read this thread completely due to its size, but just wanted to make a statement based on my own experience (and to encourage myself as well).

At least in the beginning pages of this topic, people seemed to be focusing on the supplements & the correct amounts. I suspect however, that the MOST important part of Romeo's regimen is the last line: "Omit Dairy! Way too many hormones"

Last spring I omitted dairy from my diet for a month and my skin definitely started having a different "feel" to it (not necessarily better acne-wise). But back then I did not link the two things and since I really like dairy-products, I went back. Now, three weeks ago I said good bye to dairy again and this time I'm not gonna give up. For various reasons I am almost certain that this is the key! Already feeling the change coming on...

Sufficient oils are also important, I believe, but zero milk - makes the difference! I suppose in a couple of months I will see if this is true. eusa_pray.gif
