My acne is more like whitehead pimples under the skin. Occasional cyst. Usually i have bad habit of popping tampering which leads to pigmentation. Also my acne only really occurs on my cheek areas. My skin type is moderately oily with alot of closed comedomes which are normally hidden under the skin and are dry so i can if I want push them out. If I spoke to my doc and got on accutane would that eliminate all of this for good so I literally suffer from no more acne. For me my concern is the pigmentation left over and not the acne itself so even though its mild the marks stay for some time. Some advice thanks?

when i started accutane last year, i had moderate/mild acne. about six months in, my skin cleared up, i was taken off the tane, and for about four months i had wonderfully clear skin (lotta hyperpigmentation though). i started breaking out again in september of last year, literally four months after i stopped taking it.

so i'll be starting accutane round dos at the end of this month. again, i consider my acne pretty mild/moderate, my real problem is hyperpigmentation. i can't really treat that until my acne is gone.

my dermatologist was telling me that a lot of mild/moderate acne sufferers continue to break out after accutane. i guess it doesn't totally take care of it, and many people have to do a few rounds.

but i recommend it for sure. i didn't have many problems, except for dry lips and very large dark boogers. lol!

so if you do go through with it, stock up on burt's bees lip balm, that's the best, avoid medicated lip balm and the brand chapstick, and make sure to pick your nose and gross out your friends with your nasty boogers!

really why did you start breaking out again? I thought accutane affected the sebaceous glands so even after you finish they produce less oil?

lol accutane stops acne permanantly (as in never another zit again) quite rarely, derms usually claim that 2/3 of people will have a long term clearance of acne or cleared permanantly but this also depends on a large amount of factors (severity of acne, age etc). Im 4 months post tane and my skin is relatively free from acne but i must get about 3-4 small papules every week that clear up after a few days

It may be worth it on a low dose course (10-20mg). I wouldn't go anymore than that though, or your risking unnecessary side effects. I took accutane for the more or less the same kind of acne (and ridiculously oily skin + blackheads) and it certainly helped a lot with my oil and it cleared a lot of my superficial blackheads (didn't get rid of my deeper blemishes), but the side effects were too much . It messed up my mental state very badly (mood swings, anxiety, etc). This was on 40mg a day, then 40mg ever two days.

Right now I'm taking a dietary supplment called DIM, which is working great. It's cut down my oil a lot and there are zero side effects. Check out the DIM thread in the holistic forum.

So I'd try that out, but if you opt for Accutane, start out on a low dose like 10mg, you'll be thankful you did.

Accutane only stops sebaceous glands to stop producing oil when you are on it, when you stop, oil produced again.

I had accutane and finished about 6-7 months ago. I'm glad I took it but I F**KING hate that my hair is still falling now.. If I didn't have mid-long hair then people would believe I'm bald on the side of the forehead. I still have some white heads and some acne pimple, nothing serious though.
But... it did clear me from my cystic and nodular acne, but for mild acne I'd recommend you try something else other than accutane or you might regret what will happen to your hair. Use it as a last resort. I just ordered a drug named DIM, apparently clears up some people but didn;t on others. Now I don;t care if it works or not but the benefits looks good so I'm still going to try it. Heck, I barely eat any brocoli, maybe a few times in a year. LOL Some concentrate brocoli stuff wouldnt harm me huh?

Good luk with ur stuff man.
