I realized just recently that what I've been complaining about all this time wasn't scars, was red marks... went to the pharmacist to ask about what product I should use to get rid of red marks and she said either bio oil or garnier pure anti-mark SOS thing.. well I bought garnier because I assumed that because bio oil was oily and involved touching the face a lot that it'd make me breakout...was wondering if it had this negative effect on anyone at all...because it sounds really good.. and affordable.

i put on BP first and then apply the Bio Oil, not sure if that lessens the effects of it, or whether it would be better to do it the other way around, i use it also as a moisturiser so thats the only reason why.

Been using it little while now, haven't seen any improvement really, think it takes a few months to work and i've only got a tiny bit left, not sure if i'll invest in anymore as i've just bought a glycolic peel and glycolic moisturiser set that allegedly helps so i'll have to see how that goes

Almost a year later and i'm still using, being completely honest it's a bit better but not perfect, however I think the type of scarring I have requires more work than Bio Oil, works great as a moisturiser though and has helped lessen the appearance of scars.

Just letting everyone know, this product contains notoriously comodogenic materials, it clogged my pores and made me break out after a single applicaiton.

If you do use it, spot treat only. It may or may not clog your pores, just a warning...

I have been using Bio-Oil off-and-on for a month after, like many, if not most of you, trying hundreds maybe thousands of dollars-worth of products over the years, and have seen incredible results on my ancient acne and other scars. Although I have oily and very sensitive skin, I find this stuff is amazing. It has taken some getting used to because it is an oil and it is oily. However, I put on as much as I like, which I am sure is too much, then I let it absorb in and pat-off (not rub or tug) with a soft tissue. I figured that if my esthetician did this, why couldn't I. That was the trick I needed. I have even been using this on other skin irritations, as well as bacne, and despite it being an oil, I keep seeing great results.

I should add that my skin seemed somewhat red and irritated when I first started using this and even now after I have used it for some time, but the Bio-Oil website states the following that explains it:
QUOTE
Inflammatory phase
Redness and swelling that appears for a period of 3 or 4 days is a visible indicator of the immune response as white blood cells cleanse the wound of debris and bacteria.

At first I was worried, but I have noticed the same thing, major redness and never itching or burning, during and sometimes up to a couple hours after a facial, even a non-invasive (no dermabrasion or peel) and my skin has always looked better afterward, which has been the case with the Bio-Oil.

I will keep using Bio-Oil and, although, it may not me for you, I suggest you try it. Just keep an open mind and stick with it. Also, check out their website for detailed instructions for various applications.

Lastly, I want to add that I have suffered from acne since my late teens and I am now in my late 30s. After all of the heartache, pain both physical and mental, as well as time, energy and money dealing with acne, I recently found, by-chance, that I have a , which was causing most of my skin irritations or what I thought was acne. One day I happened to finally try one of the countless samples that I had. These were a set of both a cleanser and moisturizer, which afterward I thought was ingenious because it made me not combine these products with any of my existing products. Well, when I went to wash my face for the night I noticed that my skin was not at all red like it usually was. The next day I saw even more amazing results. Ever since then I have rid all of my health and beauty from any parabens and continue to see incredible results. I should note that parabens were in almost ever single personal care product I had from skincare to make up to hand wash and lotion. It was crazy. I basically had to replace everything I had. But it has been worth the it (time and money). Any acne I develop now disappears almost like magic compared to just months ago while parabens were prevalent in my my personal care products as long as I do not pick them. Picking is bad. Of course we all know that, but, I know, sometimes that seems to be the only way to relieve the pain.

Anyway, I just had to mention this because acne can be irritated easily and you never know what could be irritating yours. It took me years, literally to figure this out for myself.

I've used Bio-Oil for scars on my body and it has worked wonderfully :)
I guess I'll try it on my acne scars.

How about using this with BP? I have to apply my BP at night, so would I put the Bio Oil on before or after putting on the BP? How have people found it being under makeup?

I use bio oil and BP. use the bio oil and THEN then BP. If you use the BP first, when you put the bio oil on, you will have traces of BP all over your face. Unless this is what you want, then I would suggest the bio oil first.

Just wondering how everyone's results are with this. I am searching always for a good moisturizer and something to get rid of red marks from old pimples.
Let me know.

Ive been using bio-oil and vitamin E oil for 6 weeks now and ive noticed a dramatic improvment in my acne scars that ive had for years. I use proactiv and Biore exfoliant in the mornings and proactiv at night with bio-oil and vitamin e but i usually skip the repairing lotion of proactiv. Overall this regime has been the best so far its faded the scars and i hardly get pimples anymore. Try Bio-oil and use it religiously im sure it will work.

I'm 25. My face has always been acne prone but about 4 months ago my face suddenly became like a party for of an army of small but overall and steady acne. It was unexpected and really embarrassing. I started using proactiv about 3 weeks ago and from day one I got the desired result ( I use it only once a day). I don't have acne now but I have loads of red scar that are new and haven't been there 4 months ago. paroactive is a noncomedogenic product and they say if I want to apply anything else to my face it should be noncomedogenic too. I wonder if it's all right if I use bio oil or not?

Bio Oil is essentially a moisturiser so you could theoritically cut out your previous product in exchange for this.

Personally, I used to just do the Dan Kern Regimen, i.e. Cleanser, BP, moisturise.

So BP, wait 10 mins or so, then use the Bio Oil.

I'm sure you can use it the other way round, I just found that trying to apply BP on top of Bio Oil was a bit of a pain in the arse.

Yep, Benzoyl Peroxide, available from all good pharmacys and some shit ones too. We just refer to it as BP because it's quicker and cos we're cool.

My skin is oily, and I have brought this and tried it for like a week but stopped as my skin becomes oilier than before, so could anyone tell me the proper way of applying it to acne scars on the face?
