Kefir's ample supply of phosphorus, the second most abundant mineral in our bodies, helps utilize carbohydrates, fats, and proteins for cell growth, maintenance and energy.

Kefir is rich in Vitamin B12, B1, and Vitamin K. It is an excellent source of biotin, a B Vitamin which aids the body's assimilation of other B Vitamins, such as folic acid, pantothenic acid, and B12. The numerous benefits of maintaining adequate B vitamin intake range from regulation of the kidneys, liver and nervous system to helping relieve skin disorders, boost energy and promote longevity

EDIT: found another good link about kefir:
http://www.kefir.net/kefiryogurt.htm

kefir is also benificial if you want to kill candida - which also has acne as a symptom.
and it helps the digestion.
i've been drinking it for a day now, se no difference in my skin , i would have had a breakout if i was intolerant to it, wouldn't i?

i am confused... kefir is diary , right?
i think i break out from diary, but now i have introdused kefir to my diet again, cause its supposed to be good for digestion (and right now i have hard times going to the bathroom eusa_wall.gif ) , so we'll se how it goes..
who else here on this board drink kefir?

I do! I try to be careful with dairy, but I think kefir is different since it's fermented? I think I read that lactose intolerant people can normally eat fermented dairy.

It'll differ on an individual basis, personally I broke out a bit from kefir but did not get any of the typical dairy allergy symptoms (increased mucus, flem, or whatever else).

hey...i bought an e-book late one night that promised to have my skin healed within a week.....it was a cruddy diet, with loads of kefir.

So it must have good stuff for the skin.

I never did the diet, it was so obscure i couldnt get most of the organic ingregients.
Most stupid wasted $40 i ever spent on acne!!!!

Wow i had no idea that people actually drank this stuff for acne...or really at all. My mom and dad started drinking kefir a couple of weeks ago and they are still at it. I couldn't get past the barfy aftertaste (i'm emetophobic--intensely afraid of vomiting) and they haven't quite figured out how to get rid of it all. Does anyone know if you can apply this topically or if it is only an internal thing? My dad said something about using the clear stuff (when it separates after taking the grains out) on acne but i was very skeptical.

Not sure about externally, but ingesting it is definitely helpful provided it's got beneficial bacteria in it. Kefir or yogurt are both good options; I make my own yogurt now and ferment it for 24 hrs to break down all the lactose into monosaccharides.

My advice to you if you're considering the yogurt route is to first choose one with 1 or 2 cultures; preferably one being lactobacillus acidophilus.

if you're concerned about ingesting the dairy in kefir you can make coconut water kefir. It is made from the clear water of young coconuts.
