Yes definetly considering. I think it's going to take a big gun procedure like dermabrasion, exoderm to get me some type of results. Of course along with those come the fear of making things worse, not healing correctly, ect.
I do know that ablative laser, CO2 is out of the picture, I just have not heard enough success stories w/C02 for scars.
BTW: thanks for sharing your stories when you talk to patients who've had dermabrasion. That's a huge bene for us that want to know more.
pm me if you'd like.

Imbue,
I've asked 3 different doctors for subcision. Dr. Michael Gold (Nashville), Dr. Hueneke (Nashville), and Dr. Harmon (Birmingham). They all said "no" to me...and each has had a different reason. One said is causes scar tissue down-the-road, one said he would only do it after all other measures were exhausted, and Dr. Harmon said this week that it wouldn't be needed.

I believe that the photo on the webpage posted above: http://www.advancedcosmeticsurg.com/Skinrejuv.htm is genuine. But, I really don't trust most before and afters on the internet.
Just to prove my point, I touched up the same photo myself. I know it's not the best job and you can probably tell its been manipulated, but if I wanted to spend a great deal of time on it, I imagine it could mislead people. So, I'm just posting this to make a point to be wary of before/afters. <sigh>

I just went and revisited your dermabrasion pics. In your message you said the last pic (5) was one year after surgery. Were you really that red for over a year? Wow, I'm not so sure about this now........

1.) Yes, it should help with the red marks.
2.) In my case 60+% improvement with deeper or wider scars and 90+% improvement with shallower scars.
3.) I'll see if I can dig some up and post them.

Arnie: Thanks! I have some left over red marks that I want gone desperately so I was hoping dermbrasion would help out a lot. And that is great news that the shallow scars improve 90%

Dr. Fulton employs a 3-pronged approach: subcision, laserbrasion, and dermabrasion. At the time of my treatment (1998), the total cost for the set was $7,200. Since my scarring was not severe enough to warrant subcision, my cost was $6,000. That included the treatment plus one weeks' worth of follow-up care, including daily hour-long sessions in a hyperbaric chamber (which accelerates the healing process). About a year after the procedure, I had several injections of silicone to smooth out the remaining rough areas.
Overall, I am quite pleased with the results. Evidence of acne scarring remains in certain areas, but one must look closely in order to see it. My skin is relatively smooth and has a good tone to it. I'm close to forty, but people tell me that I look like in my mid-twenties. At my age I still have the occasional breakout, which I'm sure contributes to the above impression.
Please note one thing: I don't wish to spread any false hopes. Everyone is different as per the severity of their condition and their ability to heal. My results may or may not be indicative of what you can expect. Your doctor should be able to give you a more realistic view.
I hope this helps. Best wishes to you both, should you decide to have the procedure done.

'The last picture in the dermabrasion series was not ONE YEAR after the procedure....it was about 1 1/2 WEEKS after. AOL journal messed up and deleted all of my pics..when I went in to reload I did not add the close up into the series and didn't even think about it! I will remedy that now....Thanks!
