I have to be on antibiotics from time to time for my eye problems, but if they'll help my skin, then all the better. Just take probiotics religiously while on them. They are rarely a long-term treatment, but they're good to take from time to time to prevent more scars and red marks. Also, if it'll give me a few months of improved acne/eye symptoms, I'd definitely take it. ^^ I can understand why others would avoid them, though! To each their own.
>imagine screaming> Stop taking antibiotics!

Antibiotics made my skin clear for the first time in 12 years. I'm 20. I've had acne most of my life.

Stop taking mino, tetracycline, all those shi'ite antibiotics. They don't distinguish between good and bad bacteria, they kill it all. You get hella sunburn while on them and guess what, the minute you come off them your acne is back either full force or worse than before because of the way they work. And to top it off, now they have killed important intestinal flora in your digestive tract. Gratz! Honestly, I'm speaking from experience. Instead of taking anti-biotics, take PRO-biotics.
That's my $0.02, folks.

you are correct, antibiotics fuck you up and are pure poison.
BUT you want to take take PREbiotic plant fibers as they are natures system to keep everything in check.
whether or not you have bacteria down there they will still need a proper food supply to grow, and they want fiber, good bacteria use fiber to turn into short chain fatty acids (lactic, acetic, propionic and butyric acid) to keep pathogenic bacteria at bay and stimulate the growth of healthy colonic cells, and they also can increase in number from prebiotic plant fibers. lots of grains and veggies and beans will keep these suckers alive, meat and milk and refined have no fiber so limit the consumption of them. generally speaking from what is known scientifically it is the soluble fibers that they want, ive also seen studies that have documented insoluble fibers to affect the growth of good bacteria as well, but soluble fiber is more documented and reliable.
psyllium and inulin would be a great supplement to increase good bacteria and aid fecal formation and enhance waste elimination for better health. there are other fibers in addition to these but these are the most well known.
bad bacteria love suger of all kinds monosacharrides or di sacharrides, lactose, fructose galactose, glucose and most definitly sucrose. strains such as e coli cannot utilize polysacharrides as far as studies ive read so fruits are no good if your bacteria is out of whack, which may actully be the cause of acne itself.
Anything that tastes sweet you will want to cut out for 6-12 months so the bad stuff dies off completly.

My .02 cents: I agree with the above and antibiotics often result in yeast overgrowth which most of the population is unaware of. Look it up it's called Candida, it's for real and I've almost cured my bacteria infection after 5+ years of antibiotics. I've been on the diet for only 2 months and I'm having results I never dreamed of. Another plus no more sniffles aka allergies. Stop the drugs, real food is medicine!!!
