I moved to Japan last year, and my skin has been horrible ever since. I used to eat/drink tons of dairy products in Canada, but since coming here I haven't been eating any! Maybe it's the opposite for me >.< wacko.gif

Haha try binging on dairy smile.gif

Shaara, how old are you btw sideways.gif

Just thinking, you should try apple cyder vinegar if you haven't already, it's A GODSEND for me, meant to work for adults amazingly, I'm 18 and it worked for me.

EDIT: I'm talking about drinking it lol

Hey smile.gif I'm 22!

That's funny that you mention ACV because I was reading about it last night and thinking about starting! What kind are you using?

They aren't 100% sure of the reason - there are some studies that have shown a link between dairy intake and acne. The hypothesized reasons include the hormones contained in dairy, the high levels of iodine, and also the whey proteins in dairy. Maybe its all of the above??

My friend went completely off of dairy due to family beliefs, and she got a lot more bumps.

Personally, I want to give this no-dairy thing a chance. I've decided that I'm going to try to cut out as much of it as possible.

Well I was using Organic ACV, but now I've decided to try megadosing on fish oil, since that seems to cut oil production similarily to accutane (from my personal experience)

I'm currently on 10g of fish oil per day. Thats 1.8g EPA, and 1.2g DHA biggrin.gif

I've been mostly dairy-free for nearly a year now and am starting to wonder if I should take a supplement.

What supplements do you dairy-free guys and gals take?

The supplements I take are found in the link in my signature. One of the them that I take that is normally found in dairy is calcium with vitamin D. The person who invented the particular supplement regime doesn't eat dairy. I highly recommend you guys to check out that link. It has helped with my acne so much and he has all the research to back it up. Hope this helps someone!

Not that I'm aware of, I just use something called "Nature Aid Food Supplement", Omega 3, 1000mg Fish oil.

So far I've had an inital outbreak, but seems it just brought all these red marks I thought were scars to surface, then I realised they were just burried spots lol. Now they are dieing, and soon it looks like I'll have no trace of acne at all.

I'm actually taking fish oil for folliculitis, but clearing acne is a WELCOME side effect biggrin.gif

i accidently have been eating milk products for months with no major problems so im assuming that only straight up milk bothers my skin. i eat a lot of frozen dinners. stouffers, lean cuisine and stuff like that. i was shocked when i started reading the labels a few weeks ago and found that most of them contain milk. chicken lasagna which i was buying to avoid the one with cheese in it to my surprise has milk in it. meatloaf, pasta w swedish meatballs, fettuccine alfredo/chicken-you name they all contain milk. i even bought some jerk chicken from the publix deli- looked at the label and it contained milk. so screw it since i have been eating them all this time with no problems i will continue to eat them. however with my cereal i drink rice milk, i avoid cheese, and i use earth balance no dairy butter which i get from whole foods.

I tried cutting out dairy and it made no difference. All depends on how your body copes with it I guess.

I have just broken out horribly and I am sure its from milk. I have been lazy and just have been eating cereal a lot lately because its so easy to make. Aboout 3-4 bowls a day. Well I have broken out horribly and now have stopped drinking it. Its been a week and still have lots of healing to go. Just wondering whats your opinion on Almond milk? I am pretty sure I am not alergic to nuts so I think I will be good on that part.

I know how you feel about milkshakes, I love them but I cant eat them. After I went off dairy for about 5 months I cant have any at all with out a small under the skin cyst forming. So no more. Seems not having any dairy as made me really intolerant of it.

NOTE TO ALL: There's a lot more info on the Nutrition and Holistic Forum regarding this issue of dairy, and also other dietary habit that produce acne- High GI foods, allergies, etc.. I suggest you all get on there and research. Good luck!

I drink a lot of Tea each day.. But with milk... Whole milk that too... And I'm a tea addict and so can't stay away from milk ! Almond milk is good... But Soy milk is way better... The taste is funny though... But it so much more healthier than normal or almond milk...

Hmm...

From my experience, if you have acne eventually you will start to think that everything you eat is causing it. Not a great habit to get into that's for sure. I lost a lot of weight last year because I was basically trying to avoid just about every single food that could possibly cause it.

One thing is fore sure though... no matter what I avoided... my acne never fully went away. If you have oily skin, not eating dairy is not suddenly going to make it non-oily. It might make it slightly better, but it's hard to believe cutting out dairy will cure it completely. Plus, so many foods have dairy products in them that it's completely unpractical.

Best of luck though
