I've been using witch hazel on my body, to prevent random stray pimples and keep the backs of my arms clear (I think I get KP on my arms).
I bought this witch hazel at a local health food store that has lavender in it and it smells really good. It doesn't smell like witch hazel at all (which I agree, smells nasty

).
The brand is Thayers. It's an alcohol free toner, lavender witch hazel with aloe formula. Witch hazel is the 2nd ingredient, after water. The ingredients are really good overall and it's been great and gentle on my skin. My arms are clear and I've kept stray body zits at bay.
As for making what you already have smell good, I don't know. You might consider buying some lavender water and mixing some in.
