I've been on tretinoin .025% for a little over a week. I like it so far, and have had a small breakout and some peeling skin on my chin so far but nothing major. My skin seems a lot oilier though.

I keep reading about using glycolic acid in conjuntion with tretinoin and how good it is. I'm 33 and switched to tretinoin because my previous topical, benzaclin, seemed to stop working, and since I'm now at an age where both acne and signs of aging are a concern I thought tretinoin would be a good choice.

I'm not sure which glycolic acid products to use with the tretinoin, so I'd love any suggestions. I'm considering just using a glycolic acid toner in the morning every day to help reduce flakiness (I use tretinoin every other day), and sticking with my cetaphil cleanser and neutrogena original oil free spf 15 moisturizer. For my bacne and dry scalp (which also has some bumps) I might try a combo like the aqua glycolic shampoo and body wash. I don't want to add too much glycolic acid at once, but I'm curious as to what people have had success with and what they've had problems with. (I'm also super, super desperate to know if glycolic acid shampoo will fade or discolor my blonde highlights!)

My main reason for wanting to try it is to reduce the oiliness and flakiness. The flaking is not so bad yet, but I've only been on tretinoin for a week and I'm anticipating more flaking to come. I have to wear makeup when I leave the house, and I don't want to have that look of makeup caking up on flaky, dried up skin, so I want to combat it as much as I can and also try to head it off. The thought of switching moisturizers scares me, because I've been using the same one for over 10 years and I don't want to break out from product switching. Am I better of using a glycolic acid face wash in the AM and cetaphil at night, or just using the glycolic acid toner after washing my face in the AM?
