I'm about 6 weeks into my MINOCYCLINE treatment along with using OBAGI CLENZIDERM for about 3 months. I'm slowly starting to see improvement. My back acne has significantly improved since using MINOCYCLINE. I have some red marks that are slowly fading. Just wondering how everyone else is doing using MINOCYCLINE and what they're using in combination with it to control their acne.
My MINOCYCLINE experience

today was officially 6 weeks for me on minocylcine but i cant really say if there is significant improvement at this point...
when i started mino, i was experiencing a pretty bad breakout and my skin has definitely been clearing but i still continue to develop new pimples at not much of a slower rate than what was the case before my mino use.
i was a little more optimistic last week when i thought i was clearing at a great rate, but after getting a decent breakout this week im a little more down. still, im going to push through and give this stuff a good 3 months before making a decision.
ive been washing with a gentle cleanser (by alpha hydrox), applying moisturizer (as my skin gets really dry during the winter and i also experience much worse acne during the winter months), and spot treating with BP at night. i do have some back and chest acne and use a salicylic acid wash in the shower.

I've taken minocycline for 2 weeks now, but I'm not seeing any results. Rather, my skin is very dry and the moisturizer my doctor gave me doesn't seem to be working. This is my first time on medication for acne.
Here's my regimen (doctor recommended):
Morning
- Cleanse w/ Benzoyl Peroxide 5% Wash
- Moisturize w/ Ultra Lite Facial Cream
- Take 1 minocycline 50 mg capsule
Night
- Cleanse w/ Benzoyl Peroxide 5% Wash
- Moisturize w/ Ultra Lite Facial Cream
- Apply Tazorac cream
- Take 1 minocycline 50 mg capsule
Now, I'm not sure if I should be using sunscreen in the morning.
As for makeup...
in the morning I apply pressed powder for coverup after moisturizing. And at night I use a cleansing oil to remove makeup before using the benzoyl peroxide wash.
It's been only 2 weeks, however, I was expecting to see results within a week. My next appointment is in 3 months. I also want to mention that my skin feels worse than before I started taking medication and following this regimen. There's more redness and dry skin which I didn't have previously. Can anyone give me some feedback? Please?

tealeaf,
just stick to your derms regimen and give it at least a couple months. maybe call in and ask what to do about the dry skin and redness and see if a better moisturizer may be recommended. ive read many reviews on minocyline and while individual results definitely vary greatly, a solid amount of people have said that they didnt see significant progress until after 2 months into the mino use. so be optimistic and hopefully soon enough you will see the clear skin you want! good luck

Ya I would give Mino sometime if you want results, But be warned I personally found Mino to be a temporary fix. Once you get off the bacteria will slowly start to feed off your sebacious glands again... Best of Luck.
Oh and Tealeaf, word of advice, It is not reommended to take Mino and lie down. I just noticed that you take one at night, hopefully not befor bed. It should be ingested in an upright position, dont ask me why just something I found through research.
