Hey guys, I've been using tretinoin .05 for exactly 11 weeks now to clear up my moderate acne. It has done a fairly good job of clearning up my inflammatory acne, which wasn't that bad to begin with. My problem is clogged pores all over my face. So far the retin-a has turned some whiteheads into blackheads on my forehead, but other than that hasn't done anything for the masses of whiteheads/blackheads on my cheeks, chin, and nose. Does retin-a even completely clear blackheads or am I expecting too much?

Clinically significant results are noticeable at 12 weeks (which is what you have seen so far). Significant results are generally seen around 5 or 6 months. It's hard to be patient, I know, but it's worth it. Just keep with it.

I know it is hard. I am 13 in and I just had a flare up and it is going away right now, but my face is still significantly better. But look at it this way, you are in 10 weeks, why turn back now? I am going to keep trudging through March because I know how much time this is going to take. Take pride in that you have gotten this far, and no that they are better things to come.

I'm in a similar situation. I went on tretinoin to clear up my comedal acne, as DKR had my inflammatory acne under control. Well tretinoin has has helped my inflammatory acne to be pretty much completely gone, but I have little results with my comedal acne. The derm told me comedal acne is very stubborn and can take 5-6 months to clear.
So yeah, it takes some time...
