i have used theskinceuticals b5 gel with HA alone ,and in cold dry weather it makes my skin more dehydrated.

I've never used that particular product - maybe there's something about that particular product formulation? I find it is more hydrating if I use HA under a regular moisturizer, not just HA alone. I think HA is often used in water based mositurizers, which can be less hydrating. I use one water based moisturizer from my esthetician's own product line and i sometimes use the 100% HA Moisturizer from Diana Yvonne, along with my thicker moisturizer. I find it plumps up my skin very well.

i guess ha a needs an occlusive, otherwise it will evaporate if alone

thats beucase HA absorbs water from either the air or the skin. in cold dry wehter the water content in the air is low so it draws it out from teh skin. i forgot what the percentage or humidity levels are for HA to be effective though ...ill try find it later.
