Hello guys,

I was using Retin-A micro for about 2 months but my face got so covered in whiteheads that I had to do something about it. I stopped taking Retin-A two months in and started putting on BP to dry out the acne that retin-a had brought out. I'm thinking about going back to retin-a now that my acne is under control a bit and BP really dried out my face (probably because retin-a made it so thin). I didn't experience peeling too badly under retin-a.

Anyway, long story short,

1: are there adverse interactions between retin-a & bp (I read somewhere that this may not be good for red marks, but they actually seem to have disappeared a bit with the bp).

2: since i stopped using retin-a for a bit more than a week, am I still starting all over with the medication, or will it simply pick back up where it left off and hopefully I'll see a lot of improvements by week 12?

Thanks for the help.

- Steven

I've been using a BP wash in the morning and retin-a at night for 11 weeks and have had great results. And I'm sure if you took only a week off you're not completely starting over, although you're skin might get a little irrated at first again.

You might want to look into finacea. I was using retin-a to get rid of non-inflammed acne and it ended up giving me tons of new whiteheads. My derm prescribed me finacea to use in the mornings and within days the new whiteheads were gone. I does a really good job at removing redness. It also kills bacteria so you probably wouldn't have to use BP.
