So, I'm wondering if I use tazorac on my back will it cause an IB, will it even work? Or would Duac work better? I really need to clear up my back...

In my 6 years of using retinoids, i've never experianced an "initial break out", however alot of anectodal evidence here may suggest some people do. My opinon on this is that it isn't an IB as such, but rather the skin simply being irritated by the new product, hence why some people suffer from it while others dont (sensitive vs tough skin). It takes a heavy dose of the very potent drug isotretinoin to cause an IB, topical retinoids dont even come close to isotreitinoins affect!
As for tarozac on your back, i highly recomend u dont do it. My derm told me to never use it on large areas, due to health risks.
Opt for something else, like BP, SA or tea tree oil, and add a loffah if u can.

These products are not suitable for acne over LARGE body areas due to the possibility of absorption into the blood stream, resulting in side effects.

Have you tried taking Bactrim/Septra? I wish i had b-acne or some sort of body acne...over having it on my face. I would just pop pills like crazy...you might get lucky and solve it all with a good antibiotic pill.

Bactrim / Septra would cure Aids probably ( kidding / over-dramatization) You do need a prescription, but yes, it KICKS ass. It would take care of anything bacterial. Including, persistent body acne. Good luck.

Hey Christine,
not sure how severe your back acne is...I would call mine moderate. I've had a lot of success (pretty much cleared up in a week or so) with putting PURE aloe vera gel on my back (I like fruit of the earth, no added color, etc) ...although I am also a holistic/diet person so it could be the diet as well...I would say though that the diet helped my back somewhat (my face A LOT), but not completely and the aloe went the rest of the way for my back. Also aloe is completely safe and shouldn't irritate you (and it's cheap!)...good luck!
