I take differin 0.3, and he said there isnt a lot of active acne on my face anymore, just a lot of red marks that will eventually fade away (still unattractive right now though)

He was concerned though about my dryness and redness, and said I should go from applying differin 0.3 everyday to applying it EVERY OTHER DAY....does that sound right? Ive never heard anyone do this before...do you think it will cause my acne to come back? I dont want to give the acne a chance to relax, but the dryness is pretty severe...

I dont know, is my derm crazy or is every other day a good idea?

If you're really red and dry that's not good for your skin. Give the every other day thing a go while sticking to the clean pillowslips, clean towels, no touching your face, lots of water and good eating rules? Surely your face won't break out big time, because you've been hitting it with differin every day for some time, and any little ones that pop up you could spot treat. Mmm. Easy advice for me to give eh?

I do remember reading posts from a couple people who stepped back their retinoid application because of irritation, and their skin thanked them for it, if that helps any. Hope others post for you because it must be a nerve-wracking decision. It's so hard to not use as much of the thing that works for you as possible, isn't it.

no...your derm isn't crazy. it's probably a good idea to cut back until your skin becomes adjusted. once your skin adjusts you can slowly add it back every night.

i had to do this while i was on retin-a. i had a lot of peeling and dryness so it's completely normal. annoying but normal.

your acne will actually probably start improving because you're not irritating it with more product. you just have to be patienet...that's what they always tell me.

good luck...oh by the way i like your tribute to sean taylor.
