I don't think there's even such things as Mandelic acid products where I live (in the UK) so I had to buy online.
I know you've probably already heard of them, but I got mine from www.dianayvonne.com they were pretty good and they ship internationally (affordable shipping costs too)
Hopefully you'll have some luck during your trip but if the shops are anything like they are over here then you're probably stuck having to buy online!

I've also heard of something called MAMA lotion. It's mandelic acid combined with malic acid. Popular with many.

LOL, I have one and several more, I'm covered
I just don't like buying off the internet... I would really love to try it first before dropping $30. Do any of those manufacturers send out samples?

She had a some acne on her face and some inflamed bacne. The doc prescribed benzaclin (sp?). It was not effective and was very, very irritating. So we went to the derm and she prescribed Triax (?) wash for the bacne. Within about a week, the kid's back was full - and I'm not exaggerating - FULL - of blackheads. She was almost hysterical. I called the derm and she was no help. I looked at the med and it contained petroleum. Petroleum? I went on line and lo and behold - the prescribed medication was NOT supposed to have petroleum in it.
Anyway, fast foward to the present. Thanks to this board and all of the good info and wonderful people, my daughter's face is about 90% clear, but the back is really slow going. The Dial bodywash has really helped the inflamed stuff, but the blackheads are taking forever to resolve. I'd like to try something a little more aggressive, since she has an important function in March and would like to show a little skin. (Very little skin, since her father will be there.)
Since it's almost impossible to manually extract every single one of these blackheads and we really don't want to just wait it out until they all become inflamed and purge:
- Is Mandelic acid the way to go?
- I also have some differin samples. What would be more beneficial?
- What would you guys recommend?
- How many applications would she need?
- How far apart should they be?
- How much product would I need? (It's from shoulder to shoulder, nape to mid back. Right now about 60% of pores clogged - much improved, but still too much to get rid of without a bit more help before March.)
- What would be the least likely to cause irritation?

I'm wanting to try the MA because I have a patch on my right jawline that just will not budge!
Differin is a Vit-A derivitive, it increases cell turn over and sloughing, it works to push the stuff out of your skin... but I don't think the samples will do much on their own, Vit-A drugs take weeks/months to work.

Mandelic serum and cleanser by Vivant are really good products for body breakouts. The cleanser isn't too expensive ($28) and a little goes a long way. The serum is pretty pricey though ($50), I use it on my back and chest and it works well, but I do end up going through a lot of it. I don't know how quickly the Differin would work. Is she prone to getting inflamed acne on her back at all? If she is, the Differin might cause the blackheads to flare.
With any topical, it would probably take at least 6-8 wks to really see a difference. Whatever you decide to try, start with one application a day. If she is getting no dryness or irritation after a couple of weeks, then you might be able to bump it to 2 applications a day. If you decide to try the mandelic cleanser, she could probably use it twice a day from the start, its pretty gentle.
Something else you might consider is taking her to get the blackheads extracted. A good esthetician with experience treating acne could probably do this. If you do, maybe wait until she has been using a topical product for a couple of weeks - the topical will help loosen the blackheads and make them easier to extract.

Well you could make it easy for yourself by just buying off the net couldn't you!
Anyway yes there are samles. www.dianayvonne.com, www.nucelle.com and www.gardenofwisdom.com all have samples.

Samples aren't free, and in the short time you use them you will probably not be able to tell how effective the product is going to be in the long run. They're helpful for testing how your skin reacts to a new product.

Maybe. For me though I was able to see it working with just the sample and before sample was done I had ordered a 1 oz bottle.
If you have blackheads, make the purchase.

They should clear up in a few months if the cause is not coming from her chemistry or current diet.
