Hi. I am on my 12 week on retin a and havent really seen any major improvements. There are some good days and some bad days and Im sticking with it as I was told by my derm. I wanted to know if its necessary to moisturize after putting on retin a at night. I noticed that my skin becomes dry and flakey after putting it on, should I moisturize. If so, would that irritate my skin more because im mixing retin a and another product. What moisturizer do you reccommed. thanks

I use retin-a too but I don't moisturize after applying it at night. I apply a very, very little amount as I found out it works best that way. I moisturize though in the morning with an spf 20. I use accuderm since it's real light and doesn't make my face white like the other spf's out there do.

I used to use Retin A and it would dry out my skin really bad and so I stopped using that product and wouldnt recommend it to anyone. However, my derm told me when i was on it that i can moisturize before applying it and then wait 10 mins to apply retin a.

I have been mixing my moisturizer with a small amount RAM. It seems to lessen the side effect for me. This is not recommended by some sources as they say it reduces effectiveness of the medication but it makes my skin less red and less irritated. But if your skin is red I would recommend moisturizing before or after putting on the RAM, it may help you.
