Im seeing a lot of threads asking how long it takes or why they haven't seen results in X amount of weeks. I've been on and off of antibiotics for the past 3 years. Minocycline and Doxy. The first time i was impatient and didn't take it seriously. the second time i bit the bullet and took it as directed. I didn't see results for 3 months. I was clear from then on with a few break outs here and there. I went off and broke out badly, and then went back on where it took another 3 months to see results.

My observations from taking antibiotics:
-The slightest variation will cause a slight break out. Meaning, if i forget to take it at night, i will break out. It may take several days but i can count on it.
-- Similarly, if i take it too late, I will break out. Meaning, morning i take it at 10pm then 3pm the next day. Thats too much of a gap in my case.
-- I have to take it between 7am-noon for morning and between 9pm and midnight for night.

Essentially what i want to say is that seeing results from antibiotics was/still is a very delicate process. Give it its 3 FULL months and take it on a strict schedule.

I hope this gives some motivation to those of you doubting it. Good Luck

What about taking it with food? Mine says not to take it with food, but it upsets my stomach too much if I don't.

^ eating it with food causes it to absorb the antibiotic? Which probably wont give u full results.

"Doxycycline serum levels may be slightly decreased if taken with food or milk. Administration with iron or calcium may decrease doxycycline absorption. May decrease absorption of calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc, and amino acids. "

Oh crap... I've been taking it with food/milk to avoid getting those really uncomfortable stomache aches....

Maybe that's why Doxy hasn't been working for me? eusa_think.gif

food does decrease its effectiveness but not by a huge amount - the main thing to avoid is dairy, because it binds to calcium. but eating it with a small meal shouldn't make too huge of a difference, i've seen pretty good results even taking it with food (i get upset stomach from it too).
