I was given Solodyn to take for a week, and I noticed it says it's still just minocycline, however, my derm told me to take it with food and a full glass of water. When I was on minocycline years ago, the derm I was with told me to make sure I had an empty stomach when I took it.
Is there some difference between them?
Solodyn vs. regular minocycline

the only difference is that solodyn is time released and mino isn't. not sure how effective that makes it, but i think that's the only real difference.

From what I remember (I was prescribed Solodyn briefly but had to stop due to bad reaction)...it depends on the pill you get. Brand name vs. generic...and what the pharmacy substitutes if they do not give you the real Solodyn. Sometimes you have to worry about food, sometimes you don't. She gave me separate instructions for what to do based on the pill the pharmacy gave me. So just follow your derm's advice and try not to worry.
