Hey guys,
Today is my 1 month mark with using Tazorac 0.05%. I had switched from retin-a mirco 0.04% which I was using for the past year. The retin-a just wasn't getting rid of the little bumps I had around my mouth. After using Taz for about 5 days, the bumps were gone! I couldn't believe it.
Anyways, I am just here to report that I am loving my skin because of this stuff. And if you give it time, it will work. Don't go by the fact I've been on it for a month because you have to remember that I was using a retinoid for a year (so my IB wasn't too bad).
Good luck, and I hope it works for you too!
Some tips: Be gentle!!!!! I swear that I think I caused pimples by putting on too much or washing too rough or too much or with the wrong cleanser. BE GENTLE, no hot steaming water on your face!
Also use a lotion underneath the tazorac. I always apply Dan's lotion right after washing and wait 30 minutes before putting on the tazorac. This gives me normal looking skin and prevents irritation. If you are afraid of lotion (as I was) please please please try it. It will not break you out!!! Make you use the right kind though.
Alright I'm done preaching but I'll check this thread periodically if anyone has any questions.
Tazorac is working wonders!

hey jen! this is very encouraging stuff...ive been on tazorac for month too, before i was on retin-a for about a year as well. The thing is for some reason retin-a stopped working and i got a horrible break out and lots of clogged pores (i also was using it less during thesummer and not putting it all over my face anymore)....i can tell the taz is working really well for me...everysingle whitehead has become a pimple and cleared, and i am also getting little pugs fall off my face..even tho still at the end stages of my IB my skin is soo smooth...but it has sooo man;y red marks that i have to hide.
just a question: d0 u notice that when u wash ur face it becomes worse ??like i feel like all my pores and pimples just get really inflamed then when i dries off it is back to normal....also sometimes when i wash my face just gently my skin peels off in my hands
just wondering if this is normal....

Im only 1/2 weeks into my Taz treatment but yes my skin does peel off into my hands when i wash my face.
Im hoping my IB from Taz doesent last much longer since i went through a big IB 9 weeks ago when i went on Differin. Already the IB sucks lots but its not as bad as the IB i had when i first started topicals up again( i used differin and retina micro like 2 years ago also).

Hey Roxy,
Yah I do notice my skin looks way worse after washing. But here's the trick... only use lukewarm water. If I use water that is too hot, my skin looks horrible and gets irritated.
Also my skin does flake off when washing. Not too much now that I've been using lotion, but it still does here and there.
When I was using retin-a I had the same results. I was still breaking out and had tons of clogged pores/bumps that wouldn't clear up. Now they are all gone and my skin is for the most part pretty smooth. The retin-a made my skin fall off the worst though, but it could also be because I wasn't using lotion and was using wayyy too much.
But anyhow, I hope it works out for you. I hear that after the 1 month mark, things go up from there. Good luck!

quick question, when you made the switch from retin a to tazorac, did you notice another breakout?

Im only 2 1/2 weeks into my Taz .1% treatment and my skin got worse and now its getting better. Overall my acne is better than before i started it. Taz seemed to get to work fast. I was on Differin prior to going on Taz so maybe thats why my Ib dident last very long. No matter how much good news i here about Taz i am still skeptical about my skin clearing up. Acne is SOOOOOOOOO frustrating and i just want to eliminate it from my worries.

So if you put the lotion on after cleansing and then put taz on it will help the peeling?
that seems to be the problem for me i hate the peeling...
but im also gonna start using benzaclin in the morning so maybe that will help?
i have no idea...

i still have a bit of peeling but WAY less than before...just make sure you put on a moisturizes that wont clogg ur pores...WAIT about 30MINUTES..THEN apply tazorac
also, the benzaclin would probably cause more peeling, or so i would think because ur using more products on ur skin
oh and make sure u dontwash ur fash more than 2 the 3 times a day and dont use any harsh facial washes or scrubs
