I'm told its normal for Differin to temporarily make your acne worse; this is supposed to happen in the third or fourth week, but everyone's skin is different, you might just be having a late reaction. As hard as it may be, I would stick with it and if things don't start looking better or if the pain continues then its time to talk with your doctor, this might not be the plan for you. Wishing you luck from here, if it helps.

Oooh girl, differin is rough until it works its magic. It sounds like you are going through a hellish IB but IT WILL PASS. I'm sorry to hear that things are painfully inflammed, but not surprised to hear that they are getting bigger. Differin thins the topmost layer of skin, so things do spread out more. Are you getting big red pimples that don't seem to have anything inside? I did too. Are they coming up out of nowhere? Yeah, differin makes everything happen fast. The upside of that is that it clears you up fast once the IB passes, and later when a little whitehead or what have you pops up differin zaps it overnight. You get used to the speed of eruption and healing.
Keep a simple cleansing regimen, ICE the spots that hurt and hang in there, unless those spots that hurt are actually cysts or nodules. If you're getting cysts talk to your doc as soon as you can because that's a pretty severe skin reaction.
Otherwise, hang in there! There's a reason the differin product insert talks about improvement within a 12-week period, because that's how long it can take to really, really work. The breakouts will slow down and become less severe as your skin purifies, so please don't imagine the next few weeks will be as hard as what you are going through now. It should get better, better, and then all better, until you are out with friends and have the most gorgeous skin of all.

i am going trouh the same hell as you are right now, only difference is that im in my 1 week with Differin. Befor this I used BP clear wash and BP to spot treat. And that cleared me up pretty much, and yes i experienced the same thing in my first weeks with BP, the dry skin and IB, so now i'm going trough the same thing with Diff.
omg great timing,,, soon christmas and everything:cry:
