I'm currently taking 100mg of Doryx for about 3 1/2 weeks now and I've been doing a lot of research about different types of drugs and topicals and such to help understand my acne and treatments.
As I read the posts here on the board, there are discussions about Doryx and Doxy. However, I am a bit confused - I thought the drugs were the same. Is there a difference between the drugs? And if there is a difference, which one is better or is it more a matter of doctor's preference and each work for some while others not.
How long does it take to see results while on Doryx? I've seen little improvement and I am still breaking out. Not on the scale as a month ago, but enough to be concerned if the drug is working or not. My dermatologist told me not to rule out Accutane, but to give Doryx a chance as I still have time for it to work because it's not a full 4-6 weeks.

I believe Doryx is more of a time released drug. So, you don't get the full dose all at once. Doxy is released all at once.
I used both and found that Doxy worked the best. I did not get any results on Doryx. The pharmacist thinks it was because I didn't get enough of the drug all at once.
Good luck,
P

AH! Okay, that makes sense. I have an appointment with the dermatologist Tuesday, maybe I'll ask her about Doxy and change up. As I said, I'm seeing very little results and am still breaking out. I'm hoping as I have a full month on the drug the breakouts will cease.
