I have this semi large (biggest I've ever had before) hard bump on my left cheek - prolly cyst acne right?
There's no whitehead or anything, just a painful large bump! it's been there for around 2 weeks now, and it just won't go away!
I was just washing my face and i think a lil pus came out, I squeezed a LITTLE no more came out, so i left it.
I have been using:
spectrogel cleaner
then I apply sebamed clear face deep cleansing facial toner
then I put ultraquin plain cream (4 percent hydroquione cream USP) coz I think i have hyperpigmentation from previous acne (dark spots on my face)
then finally I apply clindoxyl gel.( a little in morning, more at night)
but it doesn't seem to help with my bump.
I also tried ice-ing it, but nope.
When I press it, the pain has reduced these past 2 days, but the bump is still there (and obvious coz of the coloration, a lil red) and it's driving me insane.
I also got some samples of STIEVAMYCIN GEL (regular) that I just tried tonight.
( i put a little clinodxyl gel then I appled the stievamycin gel)
I read it does get a little dry, and I should use a moisterizer...
Which moisterizer should I get?
Someone tell me how to get rid of this bump asap!

well first if its really red you should put some ice to it..this supposedly helps with redness and swelling...so does taking some motrin (if its ok for u to do so) if that doesnt help wat i used to do was when in the shower take a soft and clean washcloth soaked in very warm water and just press it on the cystic pimple..this actually helped it...
i use zapzyt 10% bp to spot treat zits..it usually saves the day..
if the zit is ginormous and refuses to go away on its own u may or may not wanna see ur derm...i have gotten cortisone shots to make those suckers go away and they are sooooo effective...some people have complained about scarring from these shots though so do it at your own risk...good luck..i know how frustrating this is...

When I have these ones, I wrap an ice cube in paper towel or tissue (non scented) and hold it on the spot until it knida burns, then I take it off for a while, then back on, until the ice cube is completely dissolved. I do this morning and night and put a huge slab of BP on the spot without rubbing it in.

I won't be able to see my derm for a while (couple of weeks)
so I need ways to get rid of it before the winter break starts.
Are there cases where Cortisone injection is the only way to get rid of it? Also, how severe would it have to be?
Is my current treatment ok?
I'll try to keep icing it, but will it really do anything to help it?
I've read that icing it is actually bad for it coz it restricts blood flow or something, is this true?

its not too bad...i have had bigger!! do the ice thing or the warm damp cloth thing...and bp..all we can do is wait at this point..if it is a stubborn one then your derm may recommend the cortisone shot to make it go away for good...

will it ACTUALLY go away by itself though...?
It's been a while I can't tell if it's really getting better.

I saw your posting. I know...i get cystic ones too. I know everyone is different, but you may want to go on an antibiotic.
I have suffered from cystic acne for along time and you have to go on an antibiotic to slow the process down. I started just getting one or two, but if you don't take care of it, it just progresses. It doesn't matter what you use for a regimen because cystic acne is different then an occassional pimple. You really need to combine an antibiotic that will kill the bacteria and a good regimen. hope this helps.
