I was prescribed hydroquinone 4% cream for my acne and I used it on one cyst I had on my temple. The cyst became less painful but was more red and quite dry and flaky. Though the pain was gone it looked much worse. I then was told to go on hydrocortisone 1% that will help moisturise and yet exfoliate the warzone. Now I'm left with a bump still and its slightly red and still quite dry and this is after one week. Should I continue with the cream or should I just let time itself heal the redness. Like I said, its not painful but its raised. Not sure if its still a zit or just irritated.

I went with no cream overnight and can't say that it looks any better. Any suggestions?

As of now I went off of it because it made my skin look so much worse! Not sure if that is the normal initial reaction since I only used it for four days and nearly freaked out when I saw what it was doing.

Hydroquinone does make your skin look worst. It will make it irritated and red, and may cause acne. Its suppose to be only for brown spots. Not for cysts.

It can also make your skin look darker.

But your skin will return back to normal, albeit maybe a slighter shade than your neck. I've been on and off hydroquinone as well. It works for brown spots, but it takes at least a month before you see results. But I do it on my school breaks so no one can see me then.

I suggest iceing your cyst/
