Being someone that is fed up with acne, I am desperately trying to think of new things that will help me treat it. A while back, I had blood tests done and my hormones were fine. I was upset because I thought I would finally be able to treat my acne (I had high testosterone levels as a teenager). Anyways, I wanted to share something interesting with you guys. Normally, I try to stay away from drinking. I'm 20 years old and I have honestly only consumed alcoholic beverages about 3 times the past year - that's it! I was tired of my acne and I thought drinking would make it worse...which it did. However, I drank the really strong stuff like liquor and brandy the first two times. My acne got incredibly bad afterwards so I stayed away from drinking. However, I was invited to a party and wanting to join the "fun", I drank beer. That was what I only drank the whole night. Well, I got home and fell asleep. I was expecting to see new big pimples fresh thing in the morning, but I didn't. In fact, my acne actually got better. I thought that was very weird, but I have yet to retry this again. Anyways, I looked into it and I associated it with histamine (edit: wasn't clear here. I have read that beer has some antihistamine affects). I have known about this before, but I didn't get tested for it. However, I did suffer from food allergies as a child. Well, I wanted to know if any of you guys heard anything about this? I want to ask my doctor more about it (plan to make an app. beginning Dec.), but I wanted to ask you guys. I seem to mostly break out on my neck and I get a lot of red discoloration (rash like in a way). I also tend to break out on my back and on my shoulders, it's to the point where its getting on my arms! Some pimples seem like ant bites and my acne tends to get itchy. I normally don't have pus, it's just blood. Well, any information is very much appreciated!
Beer helped my acne??? Does histamine play a role?
