My dermatologist gave me a combination of Differin .1% adapalene gel and Clenia Emollient Cream. He recommended using them twice a day, once in the morning and once at night obviously smile.gif. I definitely felt the fury of the initial breakout ever since I've been using it, but it finally has seemed to be improving somewhat (4 days away from the one month mark). The problem is that whenever I come out of the shower, my skin dries up like a prune within 15 minutes. This is even without applying differin or clenia.
The regimen my doctor gave me is as follows:
Cleanse with a wash cloth and Lever 2000 mild soap.
Hot soak in shower for 60 seconds (I believe this is what is drying my skin so much).
Dry skin with towel. Apply Differin on lesions, wait until dry. Apply Clenia to the same lesions.
(I added this step in when my skin got too dry)
Moisturize with Cetaphil dry skin moisturizer(no SPF).
The moisturizer seems to help the problem somewhat, but during the day I notice that my skin is still peeling and there is dead skin all over my chin/cheeks. My skin also begins to feel really irritated/itchy during the day, but when I don't apply moisturizer it isn't as bad. Any advice?

wow my skin is exactly the same as yours. A friend of mine told me that she has been using Aveeno Daily Moisturizer (Ultra-Calming) and it works great. I'm going to run out at lunch today and buy it. I will let you know if it works! I have found in the past that the cetaphil cream does not work for my face. My derm also gave me a sample of a moisturizer called CeraVe. It did a great job, but I ran out of it. Good luck, and please let me know if you find anything that helps!

Moisturizing will definitely help! I wear a moisturizing sleeping mask before bed, when I woke up the next morning, my pimples became smaller!
PS I am using retinoin medication at night too. Very drying! U really need a good moisturizer!

use jojoba oil. I just put it all over my face in large quantities (which i contacted Dan abotu and he said was okay to use alot of...) leave it on for like 2 hours..read a book or soemthing..and then just either dab it off..or rince with spectro gel or a light cleanser. Skin wont be dry after!! and i have REALLY sensitive skin..the tiniest bit of med and my skin is flakey. trust me!

eusa_think.gif Just thinking about your cleansing too - the washcloth may be irritating your skin, which will already be sensitive if you're using a retinoid.

I haven't heard of the soap you're using, could that be a little too drying maybe? I'm in the UK and my derm gave me something called Dermol to cleanse with - it's soap-free, mild, and also moisturizes, contains antimicrobials, is non-comedogenic and is also used to treat exzema and dry skin conditions.

It's working great so far....
