How exactly does this work? I want to get them, but am nervous as to where they inject it, and if it hurts. Someone told me they inject into the pimple... Which for me having cystic pimples would hurt like a bitch. So if anyone has had one, would you care to share the preocedure. Thanks

I have had one once and went pretty well. They inject it straight into the pimple which makes the swelling disappear. Yeah it does hurt alittle bit but they are so worth it. Usually the cyst will be gone by that night or the next day. It's better than having a cyst that's been there for weeks.

ditto to yellowbug. I had zero scarring from mine, which I'm sure would not have been the case if I had let it continue. I've had some that kept going under there until I had to have it excised - which does scar.

I've had a bunch done over the last three years... They hurt a bit, but only for a few seconds. Most all are shrinking fast within a few hours. I've only had two or three that didn't respond much.

It's not for random acne - only the doosies.

I've never had any scarring until recently. I'm going into my third month of accutane. My derm injected one that was not really a deep nodule/cyst... it's left a shallow depression. I'm hoping it will go away, but I know it's likely it won't. But still, one out of maybe 20 or so that I've had done isn't bad.

I just had my first 2 yesterday. I read online it can take 3-5 days to "dissolve" the cysts, but it looks like most people on this thread say in about a day. So far, I'm not seeing any difference in mine. I hope it starts working soon!

I'd definitely give it a try. It didn't hurt, just felt like a little pinch. They use a very fine needle so there is less pain.

Not sure. I think it's just right into the center of it.

I'm sure it varies based on your coverage. I'm not sure how much it is without any insurance. On my plan, I just pay a $10 copay for the doctor visit.

Sorry you aren't covered for it, but I'd still ask to see how much it is without insurance. Then you can decide if you are able to do it. Good luck.

Is that the same thing as a steroid injection?
