Yo. I'm from Australia and about half way through grade 9 (2004) my skin started breaking out with cysts. At first it was just one on my cheek and I thought it was a 'one off'. Couple of months passed and it was still there. By then I was used to it being there. Then the day came when it open and and all the pus came out. I was rather happy. Few weeks later is when it really hit bad. One became two, two became three and so on. By that time I was using ProActiv but it didn't do much at all. I found myself constantly looking in the mirror and soon enough it was so bad I couldn't leave my house. Only left to go to work and race bmx. I went to my doctor and she put me on an anti-biotic. It worked for a bit but then stopped. I went back and I tired another anti-biotic which had the same effect as the first. I was then told about a beauty clinic over the other side of town so mum took me there. I didn't realise that I was be going to be getting laser therapy but I had heard only positives about it so it didn't worry me that it was mum who was going be paying for it. After having stuff very softly massaged into my face and then the laser, I come out and my skin was feeling awesome. No pain really at all. I continued to go until it was doing no more. I then went to my doctor again she decided only one option was left, she sent me to see a specialist who then prescribed me Roaccutane. This changed my life. I was on the medication for 18 months or so. By the time I had finished my face was flat and felt really good. No redness and no pimples of any kind at all. My life had changed for the better. I was going out, having good times, not worrying about anything really. Got myself a girlfriend and absolutely loving life to its fullest. Then.. about 2months after finishing the prescription my acne has come back. It didn't come back very bad to start so I just thought it wouldn't get very bad. I was wrong. Although it is no where near as bad as original, I am now back on Roaccutane and have been for about a month or so. Already I'm back to feeling the way I was when I was first put on Roaccutane. I hate it. I would never wish acne upon anyone, not even my worst enemy. But this time around I know of what the Roaccutane can do which gives me good hope. Only thing I don't feel real good about at the moment is my Year 12 formal in 3 sleeps. I have one major cyst on my jaw bone area and am just wondering if getting a little incision made by a doctor then having it drained would be worth it?

Thank you.

I hope this is in the correct area. And as for my user name, well I don't know. It's Tuesday and well I don't know haha.

Hey man i feel i am in the same position you were in. Your ance seems to be more cystic and i get alot more little white heads all over my face though. Accutane really work that well? I see a new dermatologist in 2 weeks i guess i should demand to be put on accutane, I havent read about one person that it dident work for. You get any bad side effects from it?
I would recomend you staying on it if it worked for you untill you are atleast past your teenage years. Sorry i can answer your final question.

Hey Tuesday - - sorry to hear about your acne coming back. I can totally relate to your frustration with acne; it seems like just when you think you've got in under control, it comes back again - and sometimes, worse.

I'm glad you're back on the Roaccutane..... maybe the second time's the charm. eusa_pray.gif As for the cyst on your jawline, has your dermatologist ever suggested injecting it with cortisone? I've found, for me, the cortisone injection is the only thing to get rid of the big cysts I get. Antibiotics don't help, lotions/creams don't help, soaps don't help - only an injection. OR, wait it out a few weeks/months until it decides to rise up and open.

Good luck - and hang in there. We all know how you feel..... Patti

(PS - I have a good friend here in Florida who's from Brisbane - she misses the vegimite! yuk)

Yeah the Roaccutane really did work very good. Side effects I got was chapped lips within the first few days and I seemed to get a dry nose, just inside the nostrils. This time round I will be staying on it for as long as I can haha.

I think I have had stuff injected to them before but I wouldn't know what it was. I'm over waiting it out. I've been doing it for too long already.

Vegimite is good! You Americans are crazy haha.

Thanks

20mg. I take 1 or 2 tablets a day on alternate days.
