Ive had severe acne for a few months now and nothing I do can seem to get rid of it. Ive tried $1000 dollar light treatments, which I think made it worse, ive tried numerous kits including Dermetoligca and Proactiv*On this now* but I cant shake this. Its really starting to get me down and im finding myself not doing stuff I would if i didnt have this, im putting off dates, social events even staying after school for help because i just dont want to be seen like this. Right now im on proactiv, ive been using it for about a week and so far I dont really see any results besides my face being red. I ice my face a few times a day and that temporarily brings it down but I could use some advice here. I cant see a dermetologist until january so its going to have to be somthing i can do myself

Have you looked into attacking the problem from a naturopathic side? Perhaps taking supplements and doing diet changes my work.

IMO look into probiotics and a good multi-vitamin.

In terms of diet, the usual culprits that people cut out are dairy and gluten (wheat and wheat-derived products).

You may also want to look into either a parasite cleanse or a colon cleanse; do some research and see what you think. Also have a look at the nutrition and hollistic health forum.

damn i have to give up wheat too? I eat so much wheat and dairy, oh well though i would really do anything at this point to clear it up. I am going to stop masturbating because I actually do belive that can cause acne in some people.

Remember that with any topical acne treatment it takes time to get the acne under control. You should give your medications 2-3 months before you decide if they are working for you.
Have you thought of trying Dan's regimen?

I didn't see any mention of prescription acne treatments in your post -- have you been to a derm and tried those? A gentle facewash and a prescribed topical would work better than an acne "kit."

Get some cetaphil or something to use as your cleanser most days/nights, and only use the Proactiv cleanser 2-3x a week. It's very rough and irritating. All that extra scrubbing won't help your acne and will just irritate your skin, make it look "burnt up" as you say.

Then where do those light treatments come from? If they are not done by a doctor, I seriously wouldn't even consider it. You need to get accutane for severe acne, no other meds so be sure to ask when you step into the clinic. As for now its better off you try milder stuff rather then Proactiv which is harsh. Try Dan's regimen then, its milder but the principle is the same as Proactiv.

the light treatment was from my aunt who is a estician

good news guys, suprisingly enogh this proactiv is working really good, i would say i have like a 70% improvement since i started and my face isnt even looking burnt or irritated anymore. I think the reason is working is because i finally figured out how to use this thing

In the morning before school i take some of the clenser and put a little bit on a section of my face L cheek, R Cheek Chin, Forehead and i massage it in as lightly as possible for like 15 seconds then I take some of the toner and I go over my face with the cotton pad only once, even if its a problem area im not treating it any differnt. and thats it because i dont want it to look red at school, then when i get home i do the whole kit. Ill probally post pictures within 2 weeks of my clear skin

thanks for the support guys

Gotta disagree with you on that one. After using accutane twice, and having my acne come back, proactiv was the only thing thats kept it under control for the last 3 months.
Now Exposed. Thats a scam.

Dear Members of this Forum,

The above quote is from the twice banned Acne Conquerer (you know, the chap who advocates neither bathing nor washing ones face except perhaps with human urine and has failed to explain exactly why) aka evilpillsandcreams now known as acnesucks2007 again presenting us with his opinions which are presented as fact. He does not tell us why Proactiv is a scam. I don't know if it is or if it isn't. I have seen the infomericials and I don't feel warm and fuzzy about them or the product, but then most infomercials turn me off regardless of product. Enough people have supplied negative feedback to these boards to suggest that they have not have had effective experiences with this product. Still, it might be an effective treatment for some and apparently is according to some posters.

This once more appears to me as an example of angry, hate- filled hyperbole, which fails to inform and establish a case as to why Proactiv is a scam, and sounds merely like it is an opinion based on emotion and not fact.

Sir, what evidence do you have that Proactiv is a scam? If you can present your case using the logical precepts of civil law (based on the preponderance of the evidence), then I will support you in initiating a class action suit against those who make and market Proactiv. Do you have evidence that its makers have worked in collusion with others to purposely defraud the public? If there is something darker, more sinister i.e. criminal then do you have evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the makers of Proactive are engaged in criminal enterprise? If so, I will gladly assist you with dealing with the appropriate authorities because I work in the criminal justice system in my professional life (no, I am neither a cop nor an attorney).

Once again, extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. Sir, where is your proof of criminal enterprise or some kind of civil fraud? Present your facts and I will support you 100 percent.

Sincerely and respectfully,

Joe Zit
