I get these red, hard and swollen bumps on my skin that don't have a head... I think they are nodules or papules. What distinguishes these?
The problem is that I don't know why they show up? They're a bit itchy and irritated, and I get them on my neck and on my cheeks. The worst thing is that they leave a red flat scar (no elevation or something) even if I don't pop them. I got a huge breakout with these like a year ago, and that redness (those scar looking things) didn't fade until about 6-7 months afterwards...
Sounds alot like scars, yes..

What should I do about this? I'm seeing a dermatologist soon as well, so it would be a great opportunity to get some meds for it. Been eating tetracyclines (minocycline) for 6 months now, heard that nodules only react to isotretinoins like accutane?

How serious is this? I know scarring IS serious, but does everybody get scars as fast as I do from papular acne?

If it'd help, I'm not using anything that could make these show up (I think).
