My blackheads are *exactly* like those. Except I have this area near base of my nose that has NONE (most perfect skin of my face). It's like an Oasis surrounded by minefields. Anyways, I'm on Retin-a right, 3rd week so far, hopefully it will have an effect.

After finishing Accutane did the blackheads come back? What do you use for maintenance to keep your skin clear and no blackheads? I'm on Tane, and yes, it's rid me of my acne and blackheads on my nose. I want it to stay that way when I end my course next month.

Advice??

Nightmarish nose my friend. Kind of reminds me of my old nose before I started using mandelic acid. Use it and those will disappear.

Polka, take it a step further and don't wash your face with even water, even water can interfere with the oily barrier and since your skin has already been compromised your skin is more sensitive than someone with normal skin. In addition, do not touch your face, don't even itch it if it itches. It may seem that nature wants you to itch your face when you get the itching sensation but your skin is far removed from nature at this point, you need to completely leave your skin alone.

I don't know if this will work, I recently began experimenting with this theory and all I can tell you is that I don't have many blackheads anymore but yellow-white hardened sebum that were once blackheads that is now slowly surfacing, my nose itches a lot so I know something is happening. My nose skin also looks healthier than its ever been so I believe i'm on the right track. If this doesn't get blackheads out then they need to be extracted and the aforementioned method needs to be put into practice immediately so that they don't return.

I am sure that if I had put these practices into place BEFORE I had the acne, I would not have had blackheads, what a shame. This will suck if the damage is permanent.

Polka, try this out and email me at acneconqueror@yahoo.com, i'm curious if this method will work for you.

Not washing my face makes me want to cringe...omg I could NEVER NOT wash my face. Ever.

Are you sure this is blackheads, and not Trichostasis Spinulosa? This is kind of how my nose looked before I got on Retin-A for about 6 months. Now the dark spots are a lot smaller and a lot fewer, but the pores are still kind of large. I tried out Queen Helen's Mint Julep Masque (or something like that), and it helps quite a bit getting the excess oil out of the pores. I sometimes squeeze but only if a pore looks really large/dark.

Hey that sucks man, blackheads have to be the most frustrating form of acne, I feel very helpless about mine. I'm on my second course of Tane right now and am relatively blackhead free, but I have huge pores, luckily your pores and b-heads look tiny. And for the record tane didn't clear my blackheads, they actually came back about a week after stopping my first course, so I wouldn't recommend it. But then again maybe you could consider a sustained micro dosed course of tane, I read that this can be effective and virtually side effect free.

The thing that pisses off is that there is a korean dermatology company that claims to be able to remove the sebaceous glands and specifically states that they will cure nasal blackheads. I was feeling so desperate a while ago that I wanted to fly to Korea to have the procedure done, but they are impossible to contact. If you haven't sen this thread already, it is here.

@chris, I'm curious whether or not I have this Trichostasis Spinulosa, its too bad that there is no treatment designed for it and that retin-A didn't work for Polka.

Yeah and I got INSANE results from it. Full clear up of all clogged and greased up pores. I'd think about stopping the accutane, unless it really controls your other acne problems. It could probably be managed better with regular products with a lot less risk. I'm not a dermatologist but from my experience I know more than them! Haha, they don't even know how to cure blackheads.

THats good to hear roymunson. I'm on accutane right now for acne, and the cleared blackheads are more of a bonus.

I had blackheads exactly like those, and on my forehead, too. When my dermatologist put me on Duac gel, they disappeared...like magic. I was so happy, but Duac didn't do anything for the pustules and some other whiteheads I had (plus Duac was mad expensive for me), so I switched to Dan's BP gel. Dan's stuff is working well, still keeping the blackheads few or completely gone. So try Duac or Dan's BP gel. Good luck amused.gif.
